Muller may get the Head Coaching job in Jersey

Sorry but this will be a short post, since I'm on my iPhone, but I was reading the Gazette this morning and it had a small article about Muller. It was said that he's one of the leading candidates, fir the coaching position in New Jersey, along with Cabo, Therien and Hitchcock.

Maybe we keep Boucher after all and we just slide him right into that assitant position??

Discuss.

****ing lamouriello and his incessant hard-on for all things habs. didn't muller have a falling out with the devils when he played there? anyway hope it doesn't happen. love his special teams work with habs and if boucher were to walk this summer, he becomes a logical replacement for martin

My gut feeling:
1) Hitchcock
2) Muller

Carbo & Therrien tripping over each other.

There were also news that Boucher was in consideration for the NJ job.

If I was Boucher, no effin way I'd go to NJ though. Lamoriello has a pretty volatile attitude toward his coaches. Firing them right before the playoffs, firing them during the playoffs, after one season ...

Well then Hitch, Carbo & Therrien should feel right at home.

Assistant coaches rarely succeed when they move on to a head coaching position with the same team. It's a totally different relationship with the players and both players and coach have a difficult time with the relationship/authority adjustment. New Jersey would be a great situation for Captain Kirk. Also, please don't appoint Boucher to Habs assistant coach for the very same reason.

if he goes to NJ then wouldn't there be room to bring Boucher up as an assistant here. Mind you, I think he'd be better staying in Hamilton.

What about their own guy, John Mclean? It seems it should be his to lose...

Muller can be a good candidate, Lamo know him, he played for the Devils for a while (he came on Habs on Richer trade) and was captain there.

Any coach in NJ is like a puppet of Lamo anyway, he just need a "yes man" guy and Lamo control him.

Bring Boucher as assistant to replace Muller if he leave.

Boucher will never be assistant coach, and unless Martin is fired he will never coach in MTL. Boucher have his own system, if he will be in NHL, it's as a head coach. He may be gone next summer, Columbus are rumored to be the closest to sign him.

After Montreal's success these playoffs and a lot of it was due to Muller's special teams strategies I automatically assumed he would get a call for an interview somewhere as he has a few years under his belt now as a NHL Assistant Coach.

Lou love ex-Habs. Lemaire, Robinson and even former Coach Julien were all Devils coaches. Muller being a former Devil and one of their best ever seems like a great choice in New Jersey.

I hope he gets it as he is a players coach and will do great. I can't see Carbo getting hired, he doesn't look like he can communicate with his players as well. Plus, this would allow Montreal to bring Boucher into the parent club.

I really doubt Lamoriello signs any of these candidates. They don't match personality or hockey wise with him. Carbo is an emotional coach, Muller has most of his experience as assistant, Therien and Hitchcock simply don't have the same system qualities as the NJD.

That would really hurt the habs to lose such an important guy like Muller and replacing him would be extremely hard. He's the guy who always talk to the players on the bench and keep motivating them to give their 100% and he really seems to have good relation with the players and it would be hard and would took a long time for another assistant coach to rebuild all that Muller has done

IMO, losing Muller is as bad for this organization as losing Boucher.

Boucher was assistant-coach in the QMJHL for years and was assistant-coach for Team Canada U-18/U-20

All I am saying is that if I were a soon to be rookie NHL coach, I'd try to avoid NJ as my first experience. What I said goes for Muller as well.

But it's a lot more doable for a guy like Hitchcock. And Carbonneau/Therrien might have a hard time finding other jobs.

I would rather keep Muller. I think he is a real important part of this management team. Boucher can go learn the tricky details of making millionaires believe in him elsewhere. Then come back to us when he has mastered it, just in time for us to be ready for a 10 year dynasty.

In all honesty, i hope Muller gets his chance, he deserves it. Boucher also. We will find a way without them. Good luck to them.

Capt Kirk did a great job on special teams. Big reason for us going 3 rounds

As much as it would suck to lose the guy, I hope the best for him. I loved him when he played with the team, I even have one of his sticks from back then, and I think he is a great coach and we see why he was the only person kept from last years staff.

Best of luck either way Captain Kirk.

My sentiment exactly - not the type of organization that seems to be coach-friendly.

Boucher already refused assistant-coach positions in the NHL, he wants to be an head coach.

If Kirk gets the offer and he wants to go there,I wish him nothing but the best,I will miss him but the guy deserves a shot at coaching

As for Boucher,I would leave him in Hamilton another year instead of him being an assistant coach personally
