Quick could demand a very nice return and Mason could be had for a free agent contract. Besides, Mason is much better than Quick in my opinion. If Bernier ends up being the man you can trade Mason mid season. What do you think?
July 1st and October can't come soon enough............. the people are going crazy
How so? Mason has been superior in every aspect of the game in their young careers.
No mason is 34 and just broke into the NHL has 235 gp and 115 wins he is just another labarbie in my eyes I don't want him or his massive goat on this team

Based on what Halak got, I can't see Quick returning that much. Maybe a decent prospect, that's it.
I think Quick has more value than Halak. Halak has had good waves in his career sandwiched between lengthy periods of terrible hockey play.
That's not true. After his playoff performance, I don't see how Quick has greater value than Halak. Quick is still an unproven commodity. One full season of hockey doesn't establish anything. We have to see how he handles pressure. Based on his playoff performance, he didn't handle it very well.

I think he is better at math than that because this is just downright wrong...
Quote:
That’s 20 players at just over $47 million, and of those 20, the players who were on the big club’s roster at the end of the season are comprised of 9 forwards, 4 defensemen, and 1 goalie. That means there are 9 positions to fill with under $10 million to do so.
First he says 20 players cost $47 mil. That would meant there is ~$10m to fill 3 roster spots. Then he says that there is $10m to fill 9 spots which makes no sense.
If you take the rosters players who are under contract for next year and add up their total, it is actually 8 forwards, 6 defenseman and 2 goalies. That is 16 players for a total of $44,713,000 leaving $14,926,666 in CAP space (that includes bonus cushion) for 7 players not $10m for 9 spots. I don't know where he came up with 9 forwards from last year's roster. Maybe he include Harrold in that count? Either way his math is bad.

There were a few goalies in the playoffs that were great when it counted but have been below average through their career. Halak was the poster boy for it.

Halak has been very good through out his entire professional career.
I was thinking, what if the Kings traded Stoll back to Edmonton for Souray? We only take on an additional 2 million and open a spot for Schenn....Souray, Doughty, Scuderi, and Johnson is a bad ass top 4.

Souray's injury problems, off-ice issues with his wife, plus the additional 2nd year on his contract (when Doughty and Johnson are due for raises) makes it unlikely for the Kings to fit him in.
It is more likely to see the Kings add a more stable veteran with experience who can play in the top 4. Sopel served that role and Chicago and played exceptionally well for the Hawks. Not sure if the Kings will revisit Sopel, but that is the type of defenseman I picture the Kings adding.
Aucoin was my prime candidate, but he just re-signed and it seems as though Derek Morris will also be staying in Phoenix. If Philadelphia is facing cap problems and must make a decision on re-signing Ryan Parent or Braydon Coburn, I'd love to see the Kings pick up either one of the two.
If they're going to acquire a player with more experience, both Bryan McCabe and Tomas Kaberle have one year remaining on their contracts. I think it makes more sense for the Kings to acquire either one of those two before Souray.
I still have hope for the Kings signing Sutton, but I could see them considering other veterans such as Eaton, Salei, Clark, or McKee.
Toronto wants way too much for Kaberle and he is way too soft for our already young and small top 4 D.
I met Souray last summer here in LA and he seemed like a good guy. He is a bad ass and if you read Lombardi's interview he was pissed about Burrows and Bieska taking shots at our guys, we need a D who can A. Move the puck and B. Is willing to play dirty.
Volchenkov, Hamhuis are the high priced guys that fit that bill and Sutton, Morris, Mitchell are the middle ranged guys willing to do that.
