I think it would be a stupid trade for Colorado and a great deal for Toronto. Colorado in return would get Toronto's underachieving, Stupid penatlies, soft, slow Antropov and Gambling, soft, won't throw a hit, won't shoot the puck Kaberle. If JFJ pulled this trade off I would be at his knees. Heck I would even throw in Aki Berg to sweeten the deal .

Why did you BOLD that statement if you weren't going to provide a counter argument to it?

Remember, the Avs don't have a retarded GM/Owner combo like Armstrong/Hicks.

It's Hatcher that wanted out, it's not like management wanted no piece of him anymore. Besides, what makes Armstrong retarded? I can see Hicks, but not Army, he's a very sound, smart and patient GM..

You're right, it's not his fault that Hatcher left, but I wouldn't go as far to say he's a 'very sound, smart, and patient GM'.

So far, Armstrong has shown two failed seasons for the Stars. I personally think he's one of the worst General Managers in the league.

How can you use Derian Hatcher as an example to argue my statement when just three posts later you say Hatcher himself wanted to leave?

Adam Foote does not want to leave this organization.

Joe Sakic, Rob Blake and Adam Foote will retire as Colorado Avalanche.

I'd like to say the same about Milan Hejduk, but nothing's impossible. Sakic, Blake and Foote are the cornerstones of our club and will retire in an Avs jersey just like Peter Forsberg will.

Well, similar in that they are both physical defensive dmen. Foote is a better skater than most forwards, and Hatcher is below average for a defensemen.

Just to put this in perspective, in another thread these same two Leaf players were brought up in a proposal. This deal was for Exelby and Nurminen of Atlanta.

Someone's just throwing it against the wall, and seeing what sticks. Unless we really do get that bored, the need to discuss trades that the GMs would never touch in reality is a bit much. But maybe that's just me...

I've watched both quite a few times now. And the only reason I take Colo is he is just a bit bigger. SKill level, they are on par. Daley should've went first round his draft year (2002) if you ask me.

You VASTLY underrate Daley.

Leafaholix is the same clown who said he wouldn't trade Alexander Steen straight up for Adam Foote.

That alone gave me an indication of the bias we're dealing with in this thread.

He's not a clown (I actually think he's a decent poster), but I still think he is completely off base in his assumptions on Daley.

As long as the Avs have Joe Sakic and Rob Blake on their team (which is until 2007), you will see this team still hvae a chance at making the playoffs/cup hopefuls.

Knowing that, why would a GM trade one of the best playoff defensemen of this era, let alone a top 10 dman in this league, and top 4 defensive dmen???

Now add in that Adam Foote, was drafted by the Avs organization and is still there..........AND he wants to stay in Colorado........

And I'd say this pathetic offer would be scoffed at. PL overpays to get his superstars.......another GM would have to do the exact same to get his.

He's retire in an Avalanche jersey, because he's gonna come back after the lockout.

Footer could easily go to another team in the future. Kariya was apparentley supposed to retire as a Duck, Gretzky was beyond untouchable, Bourque would retire a Bruin, etc. Always remember, once a player hits UFA status, anything can happen. You're just possibly setting yourself up for a let down if you "guarantee" Foote will retire in an Avs jersey.

Also, I likely wouldn't trade Steen for Foote straight up either, as he's UFA in a year, and there's no way one year of Foote is worth Steen. If Foote was signed to a contract, that's a whole different story.

Of course we spent all of 2000-01 listening to Sakic signing with the Rangers like it was a done deal (and Blake and even when really cocky Roy,) so we don't feel resigned to losing our star players. Now if he were a second tier player and the Rangers were willing to grossly over pay him...

Your entitled to your opinion, but Alexander Steen is certainly <<<<<<<< than Adam Foote. As for Kariya, he probably would have retired a Duck, if the Ducks had simply qualified him......or at the very least..... it would have delayed the inevitable. The difference between the Ducks and the Avs: The Avalanche have shown they are willing to lock up their stars, at high prices, at extreme length. There is no reason to think that somone who has been with the organization since his draft day, loves the team, and is a centerpiece of the organization, would leave the Avalanche, if they follow the precedents they have set for themselves.

How? He aquired Barnes during last year's trade deadline as well as Bure this year, both contributed to our team a lot more than we could've wished for. He's making smart free agent signings that proved to be golden, Don Sweeney, Shayne Corson, etc. And is not hesitant to pull the trigger. Ranking him based on the team achievements is rather silly, since he never build the current group. He's only trying to improve it, and he's done the best he can.

Since Derian Hatcher played it smart. He was all over the media saying how he wants to remain a Star, how his familiy enjoys it here and how he would like to retire in Dallas, all that sort of sucking up, yet in the mean while, he refused to sign a 5 year (5.5 or 6 million) deal in the summer of 2002/2003, the exact same deal he signed for with the Wings a year later.

Quite frankly, there is nothing on the Leafs roster whom I think the Avs would trade Foote for. Maybe Mats Sundin, but that's about it.
That will be signing with the Leafs in a year for nothing. It is an overpayment and I would not do it. Damn by the time hockey is being played again he will be a UFA and a Leaf 75% for sure

No because Sundin has not ever mentioned about playing for the AVS and he is not a UFA next year

Good try though attempting to inflame the subject

Provide me a quote where Adam Foote says he'd like to play for Colorado.

Please?
