This fight is going to be interesting.
In no way am I undermining Sonnen. IMO, if he executes his gameplan (meaning not strike with Silva) I can definitely see Sonnen winning two or maybe even three rounds. However, I do believe that Sonnen's trash talking has gotten to Silva which will lead to him being more aggressive than we've ever seen him.

I agree this fight will be interesting, can't wait for Saturday

I'd say Maia won at least a round against Silva too.

The thing that's tough for Sonnen is that he doesn't finish fights. If you give a motivated Silva 25 minutes in the cage, chances are he's going to find a way to end the fight.

I couldn't have said it any better myself.

Apparently our man Sebastian Rutten's take on this whole Chael Sonnen thing is that Chael is running his mouth in attempt to actually convince himself that he can win the fight.

I think it's working on a lot of casual fans. Hell, a few times I've had to remind myself of how sloppy Sonnen has been with BJJ guys in the past.

That said, his win over Marquardt was still pretty damn impressive.

Absolutely. I'm still completely in awe of Anderson Silva's skillset, though.

We're all getting trolled hard.
1% of the total money earned from PPV buys? That's a pretty nice reward for Sonnen. Should be well over $100,000.

We'll find out after the fight if he was actually scared or he was doing it to increase PPV buys.

The only question for me is will Sonnen make it to round 2 before his face is caved in. I seriously doubt it.

It wouldn't shock me if Sonnen won't engage for long periods.

And yet, he almost blew it in the third round when Nate got the guillotine from a gift wrapped "stick year head under the guy's arm pit". If this happens in the first round when guys aren't that slippery he doesn't slip out and gets tapped. ALso, Marquardt's arms were shot from trying to get up from all the takedowns.

Your first assessment is on the money. The guy gives away subs to everyone. He can't defend it. Never has never will.

I agree i think Sonnen won't be so eager to engage after he realises Silva has pin point accuarcy in his striking. I think Sonnen is going to try and drag this fight out.

Yeah, but a lot of wrestlers make that mistake and they never get burned. Most fighters aren't confident enough to go for it and lose the position.

He's back!

Quote:
'If GSP said he wanted to fight me, the first thing I would say is the same thing I say every time I hear GSP talk: 'Dang it that guy sounds like a French-Canadian Minnie Mouse,'" Sonnen said. "That's the first thing I'd say. Then I'd say, 'Hey, GSP, let me ask you a serious question – do you have a designated driver? Do you have someone to get you home safely? Because clearly you are intoxicated.

"'GSP, do you have a hankering for pain? GSP, did you lose a bet with God? GSP, bring your $3,000 suit, bring your $3 date and get the three-cent tan knocked off your socialist back.' If you see GSP, give him that message for me."
Quote:
"If Brock Lesnar was here right now, I'd take my boot off and throw it at him, and he'd better polish it up before he brings it back to me," Sonnen said. "Talking about he's the baddest guy in the UFC? Brock, quit eating so many raw eggs and doing push-ups because it's affecting your realm of reality. Are you kidding me? I'd slap you in your face, and you wouldn't do anything.

"'I'm Brock Lesnar. I've got this $5 haircut and a knife tattooed on my chest.' I'll shove it up your face if you get in Chael Sonnen's way."

The guy was on an entirely different level when it came to trash talking, and Sonnen is approaching that level. I remember reading something where Lindland was saying Sonnen paid attention to all that stuff, so needless to say there's no question he knows what he's doing with all of this. I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea, but no one can deny the guy is colorful.
