Are you jfried? Because there's no way Kaberle is worth any of those players.
was gonna say something but probably would have gotten banned, when did i ever say kaberle is worth them, people need to know how to read, and we dont want your other assets..

Who's 'we'? Are you part of the Leafs front office? Yeah, I'm sure Toronto, they of the 2nd worst record in the league, wouldn't want Carlson, Fehr, Alzner, Schultz, Fleischmann, etc. They've got so many better players.
It's possible LA could do something like 2 years/$5.1m per rather than re-sign O'Donnell. This would allow the physical d-man prospects(Teubert, etc) additional time to develop. The other reasons for signing him are fairly obvious.
I really like Volchenkov, and I'd love to see him on the Kings as a shut-down guy to play with Johnson... but $5m? I think this is all baseless interwebz speculation. There are a lot of nuts running NHL teams, but can you honestly see any NHL GM shelling out $20m for four years of a defensive defensman who can't seem to play a full season? That just doesn't make any sense to me. There just insn't enough cap space and free cash out there to shell out that kind of money.
Rob Scuderi got 4 years at $3.4m per and he was a Stanley-cup winning hero.
I am in the minority. This i know. The Caps had the best record in the league without hitter/shot blocker defensive zone playmaker like Volchenkov. While they lost in the playoffs, it was certainly not because they gave up too many goals. It was because they failed to score.
I really wonder whether a player like Volchenkov fits the Caps plans. He requires a stay at home partner just like an offensive defenseman does and the Caps want to move the puck.
They could be way wrong, but its my take that they are going to play their brand of hockey and try and ram it down the league's throat again next year. We will see.
