It's not a demotion at all. It's a chance to give him head coaching experience before he takes the reins of a big club. Likewise for GB. Being an assistant in the NHL is neither a promotion nor a demotion: it's a chance to round out his experience.

Oh my... this is GREAT!

Now, hopefully we get to see a couple of young guys coming over before it's too late. I'd love to see Leblanc get coached by Boucher, to start him off well.

But it's easy to see that there are as many positives/negatives whether accepting or rejecting the offer.

That being said, I don't understand those boards and Twitter accounts who come up with statements "based on trusted sources" and end up being wrong. I mean, it's heads or tails. I should create my own Twitter account and find a "source" who would flip a coin for me. Who wants to be my DT?

it was relatively obvious that when it wasn't announced he had accepted early in the AM...he'd turn it down. he took the weekend - already a red flag - and then nothing was said this morning?
glad hes staying

You know, we should actually do it.

"Official: my source tells me that Leblanc has decided to go back to Harvard".

All together now: whew.

I wonder if it's because the Habs offered him a promotion/massive raise.

InsideOut says he said no because CBJ would not let him bring his own staff and give him the final say on "hockey" decsions...

I bet 100$ that if Boucher was to be the coach in Mtl, people would call for his head after just one year.

One year? I'd say after the first 3 game losing streak is more like it...

This is bad news imo... I was hoping it was more along the lines of wanting to stay with the Canadiens after successful discussions with PG / ownership etc.

Agreed, but lets be real here, The Habs probably offered him a fat raise and a job in MTL for next season. Muller will probably be gone to a head coaching job in the AHL anyways.

Way to ruin the good news... if that's the case I would be even more upset, we don't want to play against him 4 times a year!

Won't happen with NJD.
WHat GM will meet his conditions?
No we don't. All the information being thrown about right now is rumor and conjecture based on fans posting on different sites and blogs. Even the "reputible" Canadien news sources are using the Columbus Dispatch Blog as the source.

It's confusing but not surprising. Personally...he sounds like a control freak and that scares me a bit. Good luck to him wherever he lands. He lost a great long term opportunity in Columbus.

Boucher chose the habs last summer because they gave him complete control on his assistants, who would play on his team, and the system he could implement. In the case of Boucher, his methods are so different that I guess he believes that's the only way he can be "him" and perform to the level of his abilities.

Because the second a team comes to him with an offer and allows him to the demands he's made, he's gone.

Glad to see him still with us for the time being. I'd love to see him & Muller switch positions this year to give them both experience in new positions at different levels.
