Guy Boucher offered Columbus head coach position; UPDATE: He declined to coach Tampa

http://blog.dispatch.com/cbj/2010/06..._the_guy.shtml
Guy Boucher has been offered the head coach position in Columbus according to Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch.
Should give his answer on Monday.

Well, congrats Guy. And thanks for your work in Hamilton

(Edit: whoops, jumped the gun a bit fast with the wording. Could a mod edit the title please ?)
Edit #2: Thanks!

Boucher didn't accept the offer yet...

Quote:
NHL sources said Boucher was pondering an offer this weekend with an agreement to get back with Howson by early next week.

damn.... what a shame.

Gauthier saying that he doesn't want to interfer in Boucher's decision? What a ***** organization we have no pants at all. Typical canadian mentality.. No wonder why we suck for 20 years.

If this is true, there will be several HF Habs board lunatics on suicide watch.

Hate to see him go, but Columbus could be a very good fit for him. Lots of young talent on the team and coming up through their system. He won't be in the spotlight, low profile, I see him doing very well with them.

Wish he would still be here for our young players but Congratulations and good luck. I'll be cheering for ya.

What? If I was Boucher and the Habs didn't let me have this job I would certainly not put them in my priority list once my contract is over. Happy for him, he deserves it.

Good for him if he accepts it. He's come a long way after two years.

Oh gawd....you have no idea whatsoever how the real world works. Maybe I'm just too old for this board.

Actually, if you force him to stay, he's probably not going to be happy with the organization, and thus as soon as his contract is over, he bolts to the best offer, not the one that was forced on him. Now there's still that glimmer of hope that if/when he gets fired, he can come back to us, and he'll have good things to say about our organization.

that sucks for us, and is great for both boucher and the Jackets.

with the young talent they have, he has a great opportunity to build a winning program over there.

some posters have some serious crow to eat...

You've got to be kidding, no organization steps in the way of a promotion. Jersey is looking at Muller too and if he gets the job we'll let him walk too because thats how the NHL works. Think about how much of a dick Gauthier would look like if he didn't let this happen.

congrats to him

Habs organization can't do nothing about it, he was offered the job he want and we can't fired Martin just to take a guess on him

expect Brassard,Filatov,Voracek and all the others young Columbus players to be great in a near future

You're right on the money! The fact that you have to explain this to someone really says a lot about how far this Board has fallen downhill.
