I thought we had all settled on calling him Doucher. Actually I like Le Doucher. Gives him a sort of old school silent movie villain feel.

Wasn't it supposed to be announced today, that Guy would be TB's coach?

If they have all the contract issues worked out. I also suspect they would until the day after game six.

Ya, I feel better here... after he turned us down I read a lot about Tampa not being in as much a rush as us to turn the team around. That and our organizational budget may be the real reasons Bouch went to Tampa, but, Tampa's GM is a huge draw as well.

But it's clear now that purging the staff was not the reason.

After Boucher took the job in Tampa, it should have been clear that the assistant coach deal wasn't the difference maker.

I don't know why that part of the rumor was focused on so much more than the part more likely to be contentious, depending on what exactly it meant: something about "hockey decisions."

I also have to think that the prospect of playing Atlanta, Florida, Carolina and Washington six times a year has to be a little less daunting for Boucher then playing six times each against Chicago, Detroit, Nashville and St. Louis.

Good point, truth is we will never know the reason Boucher declined but I've made many difficult decisions in my life and few where based on one thing, multiple causation is likely...

I think you hit the nail on the head. The budget and unsettled Arena situation are issues he doesn't have to deal with in Tampa.

It made me do a double take for a second, if only because the history of our (former) assistant coaches around here.
