I thought they were playing for others countries (leagues) to make more money...

(I know next to nothing about soccer (so flames away, just tell me if they are paid), awful game to watch on TV, fun to play however...)

Yeah that's what I noticed...too late I was off the topic, thinking of a player of the Impact who went (or may?) play in some Europe leagues in order to make more money...I remember seeing something talking about the exodes(?) to Europe.

my bad

well good for Iraq I guess

as for Canadian, as Sonik mentioned, Canada needs to qualify against much tougher opponents then Kuwait and Iran. Not to say that is only reason Canada didn't qualify because they are pretty brutal. But I get the feeling they are going in the right direction but just not enough $$$. Last I heard they were 93rd in the FIFA world rankings :bonk:

You'd be surprised of the level of the teams in the middle east. But you are right, Canada has a way tougher group.

Soccer will take time to develop in here. To be able to get a noble team fast, Canada would have to copy what the americans did.

Get a world cup, inject millions and millions in the federation, and get the attention of the citizens. I don't think this will happen anytime soon... Sad to say, but Team Canada would be a top 2nd division team in Europe at best...

Iraq didn't only beat Kuweit and Iran, They beat Saudi Arabia 3-1 ... The Saudis are considered by Fifa to be the 22nd best team in the world so that's a huge victory by itself. Also you should consider the fact that the Saudis made the world cup last time and yet they are a middle eastern team. There is a lot of good teams in that region but lack of money, training is something that is keeping them from hitting their potentiel.
