Go post this poll on the Isles board, I would bet that 2/3s minimum take the deal and run.
Haha , I should think before i post? How ignorant. Just because i said NYI wouldn't pull the trigger , Dosen't mean i meant the entire Fanbase and management would share the same thought. Again it's a hypothetical thread, People really need to stop biting heads off around here, Don't you guys get enough from redden threads?

Believe it or not some of them wouldn't do it just based on it being Ranger-related, Others wouldn't do it because they didn't see anything impressive through his first season, there's multiple variables.Maybe you should think before you try to judge.

MDZ as a 19 year old rookie defenseman put up more points then a lot of forwards do.

He can only improve. His ceiling is literally limitless. He has phenomenal offensive instincts and vision. He is physical. And he can improve defensively with age and experience.

He has the ability to go down as ONE OF the greatest Rangers defensemen ever, when all is said and done. He's that gifted.

Personally, I wouldn't trade MDZ for just about anybody (other then Ovechkin, Crosby, Stamkos... the obvious).

Are you kidding me? Why is this even a question? Surely Streit has a howitzer from the blueline but the guy is soft. Streit or Gerardi should be your question.

MDZ is just starting out. He played a full schedule as a rook and performed exceptionally. Give the kid a break.

Would you do Gaborik and MDZ for Tavares and Streit?

No. 3 years from now when this team is ready to compete, Gabby will only be 31 and MDZ will be 23. I'll take that over a 23 yo Tavares and a 36 yo Streit.

Tavares may end up being a great player, but Gabby will still be potting 40+ a season and I think MDZ will be better than Streit at that point in their respective careers.

Gotta agree with you. He's clearly not going to improve much, if at all.

I was screaming for Streit instead of Redden. We all know how that turned out. If there was ever a time to get him, it was then.

No thanks. Kinda silly OP imo.

I myself am a huge Streit fan but in no way would I make this move. I do wished we signed him instead of Reds 2yrs ago.

Of course his defensive play wasn't spectacular. He was a 19 yo rookie. Very few rookies can come in and be an Ovechkin or a Crosby esq. Gotta give him time my man. He's still learning and its too early for anyone to consider him a bust (I know that's not what you were implying).

Good word, what a different world we would be in as Rangers fans if Sather had taken your advice at the time... I'm not saying the Rangers would be a transformed team, but as a fan I'd have much less trouble watching them play. And I used to be a bit of a Redden apologist!

No.

I don't think that Tavares will become as good as Gaborik is is today.

I like JT, but not at the expense of Gabby.

Tavares will be better than Gaborik. Book it. I would trade Gaborik for Tavares in a heartbeat.

I don't see it.

don't want to get into a discussion regarding Tavares, but I would not trade Gaborik for him. Nope. Not at all.

I get it. Bad thread. I thought it wouldn't be so lop-sided. My bad.

I thought Streit was 28...

JT the year after he was drafted:

24g 30a 54p

Gaborik the year after he was drafted:

18g 18a 36p

Obviously stats arent everything but JT has just as much, if not more potential than Gaborik did when he was selected. He also lacks any sort of injury history and is a great playmaker and goal scorer. I'm sorry but anyone who wouldnt trade Gaborik for Tavares has some homer shades on. He is going to be a game-breaker.

I'll say the same thing here that I said in a JT vs Stamoks thread...

When Tavares can skate and shoot like Gaborik, I'll agree.
