Loffen

Would you be willing to email me a usable file of this video you have, before it gets lost in time.

Cally goal vs Ott after Carkner hit.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wx5z7gfCRhU

I own the shirt Cally is wearing in this video and can video match it when he is on the bench. It's a great highlight moment + the video match to puck marks makes it something I'd like to have for my personal use.

Nobody said that. Hyped up a bit much, maybe. Great 3rd line energy guy. Pretty much my favorite player on the team now.

But he really is a simple player with not many more hills to climb before his offensive prowess is reached.

Unless of course: goalies become unable to stop a sharp angle slap shot from the right boards.

It feels good to root for a guy who is from new york and playing on the rangers, AND on top of that seems like a guy who is willing to give this team his all......we need more of this no matter what line they play on

I thought the statement had sarcasm because of people saying that statement, though. I don't think that statement makes sense if it's just pure sarcasm.

I might've agreed with this post before last season. Funny, I think Cally's shown he can be more than just a 3rd line energy guy. His effort, hitting, and energy will always be what separates him from other players, but I think he honestly wouldn't look out of place on a lot of first lines and most second lines in this league. I'm not saying he's a "bonafide first line player" but he could very well play the wing with 2 other first line players and put in 30-35 goals while doing lots of other productive things on the ice and not look out of place at all. He's scored 20 goals mostly on the 3rd line the last two years and he's got more skill than most people think. Dangling through people isn't his game, but he's certainly capable of taking the next step and becoming a 30 goal guy if he's in the right situation. I don't see it happening on next year's Rangers team, but I do not agree that he's a simple 3rd line energy guy. Sean Avery is a 3rd line energy guy. Ian Lapperiere is a 3rd line energy guy. Callahan certainly has the potential to be more than that.

I generally agree with what you're saying.... Fans often forget that line combinations on any given team are, at times, less about a particular player's overall skill level and more about chemistry and creating balanced lines on the roster.... It's not like a team takes all their forwards and ranks them based on skill level and overall talent and send the top 2 to the first line, the next 2 to the 2nd line, and the bottom two to the 3rd line.... Bill Guerin in his present state is not a 1st line forward but he meshes well with Crosby and compliments that line nicely, and thus, he's utilized in that role.... Plenty of other examples throughout the league of players being utilized effectively outside of what most fans would consider their 'line label'....
