Last Album You Listened To...And Rate It

I was just in that album cover thread, so I got the idea to do this one. As far as I know, this kind of thread doesn't exist on hfboards, so I figured I'd start one, and hopefully it'll take off.

Last album I listened to:

Can - Future Days

Future Days - 9.7
Spray - 8.9
Moonshake - 8.7
Bel Air - 9.4

Overall rating - 9.3

Cibelle--The Shine of Dried Electric Leaves 9.5/10--trippy and surprisingly adventurous electro-acoustic Brazilian folk pop;
Babyshambles--Shotters Nation 8/10--Doherty is a tabloid staple, but he's great on this album, as is the band;
Nils Petter Molvaer--Liquid Ether 9/10--Norwegian jazz trumpeter; what Miles Davis might have sounded like if he had been into Nu jazz.

I am listening to my collection as played randomly on my new W7 system. I have heard so awesome songs. Songs I would not have added to a playlist, yet so many I love. Is this normal? There must be a 10 to 1 ratio of songs that I don't like in my colloection because I burn them all. This is amazing to me.

Edit: Steve Vai is the bomb

So is Sniff and the Tears

Dethklok-Dethalbum -9.2

This CD is awesome. Any metal fan should have it. Great riffage, great solos, funny. Can`t wait to see Dethklok in a couple of months.

Good idea...don't know why we've never had this topic before.

Ricardo Villalobos - Sei Es Drum 3xLP: 9/10

Ricardo Villalobos - Fizheuer Zieheuer LP: 8/10

Working on the new Kluster - 1969-1972 6xLP box at the moment...so far I've heard three sides and it's amazing.

Rin Toshîte Shigure - Just a Moment [8.8/10] - A very highly recommended album from a three-piece Japanese band that I suppose would be classified somewhere between indie, post-hardcore and punk. Instrumentation is great - they can really play their instruments - as is the production. I don't know what the hell they're saying because I don't speak Japanese, but it doesn't matter... The sound is awesome. The vocals seem strange at first, since (as a review I read said) both the male guitarist and the female bass player seem to be singing an octave above their natural singing range... But oddly, it enhances the music rather than bringing it down. There are a lot of cookie cutter bands in the J-rock scene who try to mimic American pop punk bands, so it can be hard to find J-rock bands who are not only enjoyable but also unique, but Rin Toshîte Shigure is one of the rare few.

(Toshîte should just have a normal "i" but the censor doesn't let me type that.)

Damn, the drummer alone is worth the price of admission. That's a terrific cut.

Everly Brothers, The Definitive Pop Collection—achingly pretty songs and the best two-part harmony ever--- 9.5/100

Carlinhos Brown, Alfagamabetizado—Brazilian musicians can be hard to classify; this is a mix of rock, samba-reggae, carnival, electronica, tropicalistica, and funk from one of the most imaginative contemporary Brazilian composer/musicians--- 9/10

My Bloody Valentine, Loveless—multi-tracked layer upon layer of distorted guitar results in maybe the most purely sensual rock album ever ---10+ + + + +/10

At The Drive In - Relationship of Command - This album just blew me away. It may be the best album I have ever listened to. 10/10

At The Drive In - Vaya - Great precursor to Relationship of Command. All excellent songs on this 7 song EP. 9/10

Rise Against - Appeal To Reason - Excellent follow-up to The Sufferer and The Witness. Not quite as good though. 8/10

Sparta - Porcelain - Best album by non-TMV ex-ATDI members. Still doesn't approach Relationship of Command. 8.5/10
