I like that idea.. but god knows how much it would cost to get that installed in every single metro.. or atleast the big metros.

I live in Laval now, but when I use to take the metro often in MTL. I am pretty sure there would be atleast once a week where the metros would be delayed because of an incident

They need to do the exact opposite. They need to designate one area in montreal where no one with any will to live would go, that way we have all the pathetic people in one spot. We'll call it: St. Leonard.

You take that back!

Anyway, I forget which country, but the metro platforms have glass panels all along the edge and when the metro arrives at the station, the glass has doors that open at the same time as the metro.

yea let's ruin the metro stations for the couple of idiots who want to kill themselves. They'll find other ways to do it and most of them will probably fail at that too.

sorry if that sounds harsh but i am tired of a handful of people ruining it for the rest. see: Airports.

Why do you see that as "ruining" the subway stations? All you need to do is add plexiglas. For the general public, it's actually a good thing as there will be less suicide related delays (which happens more often than you would think).

The sad thing is, only a fraction of those who jump actually die. Most of them end up crippled for life.
Someone needs to explain to the general population that the metro is NOT a viable way to commit suicide.

If it was about Metropolit, it wouldn't be an OT thread.

If anything, the plexiglass is kinda nice.. some of our MTL metro are disgusting to look at already (Place St-Henri)

But.. honestly, those who try to commit suicide end up causing hours of delay for those who wanna go to work on time or wanna go home to cook for there family. That's the issue.. It effects everyone.

Yep.

When I was in Paris, some stations had those

Im wondering what the heck Tremblay is waiting for

But no, it's better to spend our money in building ugly touristic places (man those lamps at Place des Spectacles are fugly), bicycle lanes for bikers who don't stop when the red light is on and then complain they are "victims", or the freaking Montreal F1 Grand Prix

False dichotomy. There's no relation in all these things. Tremblay didn't wake up one morning to chose any over the others.

So, you use arguments that are flawed on purpose? That's interesting. Most people don't actively try to be wrong.

I found this forum called metrodemontreal.com where stm workers post, well guess what? This morning was another code 900-04... Code 900-04 = Tentative de mort violente.

Quote:

Straight in the morning, imagine those people who were late for work. It just disturbes everyones day. That's why Suicide prevention plexiglasses would be far better... not only for those who wanna suicide.. but those who DONT wanna be delayed in a hot crammed metro station in the morning.
