I also didn't read much about him. He seems not be the sexiest pick.

I'm not entirely sure why he is a first round pick. Every year we hear about the "safe" player who doesn't excell at anything in specific but has a good all around game. This year I think its Pitlick. IMO he isn't anything special, but I don't know a whole lot about him.

Perhaps people should watch a player play a few times before they just randomly condemn them? You don't get rated that high and not have something to offer

Pysyk rated 17th. He's one guy I'd love to trade up for. 31st + 48th for say, the 22nd or so.

He'd be a great player to grab for the backend.

I really don't know where to expect Pysyk to go. I don't think anyone has yoyo'd up and down the rankings as much as him. I've seen him rated in the top 10, out of the 1st round, and just about everywhere in between. I personally like him a lot, but it'll be interesting to see where he gets taken.

Pysyk vs McIlrath

Pysyk - GP 48 G 7 A 17 PT 24 PIM 47
McIlrath - GP 65 G 7 A 17 PT 24 PIM 169

Both scored the same amount of goals/assists but Pysyk had his season shortened due to injury while McIlrath's offense really didnt appear until late when Hamonic was traded.

So... Minute munching and smooth skating. VS Tough as nails bruiser?

I'd probably take Pysyk but its a tough choice.

I think his problem is he doesn't really 'wow' people. He's not ultra physical(McIlrath, Gudbranson), not a silky smooth skater with a good first pass(Fowler and Gormley).

He does everything pretty good, and has excellent hockey sense(Thank you HA101 again!).

For me, if you want NHL comparisons, its:

Pysyk = ME Vlasic
McIlrath = Barret Jackman maybe?

I think Pysyk is more useful in the long run to an NHL team. He can anchor a top-pairing imo.

Somebody once compared him (Pysyk) to Sydor, and I thought that was a pretty good comparison. I could see him turning out like that or Mark Eaton.
