Kyle Chipchura. Just kidding.
I would say Komisarek showed maturity throughout the season and looked like he wasn't shy to give his opinion even in delicate situations... something you don't see often from rookies. I think he can develop into a good leader for this team.

Don't bash me for this one but I don't see Ryder become much more better than he is right now. He had a great rookie seaon but I think he will top at 50-60 points season...I could be wrong but one thing:he's not a leader and will never become a captain!

Not crapin' on ya, but I would be estatic to see him score 60 points a season. How many 60 point scorers did we have this season???

Holy **** am I ever sick of these ''who is our next captain'' threads. There seems to be one every 1-2 months. Always the same names. Komi or Higgins?
Jesus, Koivu is a good captain, and is only about 30.

Since it's a poll, I voted Higgins cause he seems to be a down to earth person who cares about the team more then he cares about his stats,

why not ? Gretzky can be traded so Koivu is also tradable if the offer is great. He is only 30 but are you sure he will be still in Montreal in 3 years since the next year is the last year of his contract. Maybe he will decide to stay in Finland or Habs can not satisfy his new contract, they will trade him

Maybe we'll get someone who's captain material

If there is another 50 goal scorer in the league it's gonna be either Iginla, Kovalchuk, St-Louis or Nash.

Not ryder

Edit: Or maybe Crosby

I do. I know Koivu is God, but whats wrong with talking about our future captain. Koivu will be gone one day. Plus the question is directed towards the future, its not saying who could replace Koivu as a captain at this point in time.

So, i do care!

That Gretzky trade exemple just plain sucks.... Gretzky was traded because of economics, not because the offer was great. Shut up about this.

Sorry, still not used to thes boards, all three seem to be great choices for captain. All af them seem to be extremely intelligent kids when i saw them interviewed on tv, good leaders on the ice too. I do not know much about higgins leading aptitudes, but having seen komo hit during the playoffs, and seeing ryder leading every leage he`s played in in the playoffs, you can sure tell thes two have character. My vote goes however to number four on the list, steve Bégin..., man with how many injuries was he playing? this guy sure is inspiring...

do you think Montreal still the rich team ? If Koivu request 6M year contract, they can say bye bye to Koivu.
Btw, the 3 guys above, only Ryder has the first whole season with big club, 2 others still prospects. My question is not because i hate Koivu or whatever. So stop bashing me

only reason why i wouldn't sign koivu to a 6M$ contract is cause he's injury prone. Aside from his first season and the 2002-2003 season he's been injured every other season. Like we said, 1 full season doesn't make a career. In koivu's case thought, he has produced even after coming back from injuries. Other players take time to get back into it. Marian Gaborik took almost all season long to get back to his level of talent and he wasn't even injured. It was a contract dispute. Which means he was still able to train off ice. Koivu was hurt last season for about 10 games or so and took about 5 to 10 games to get back into it as well. 6M$? a little too much if u ask me. maybe if he goes uninjured for like 2-3 season maybe...

And "IF" that happens we should start talking about captaincy, but as of now, there is ZERO inclination about Koivu leaving. What has happened since the last time someone posted the exact same topic? Nothing except Koivu further solidifying his importance here and further displaying his leadership. I think people are more sick of yet another of the same polls about Koivu's leadership and captaincy because we had probably half a dozen this year.
