I love Clarkie, he's my favourite player on the team, but I'd trade him for Kaberle. I can't think of someone here that wouldn't. I wouldn't be giving much else though, that's how valuable Clarkson is.
Oh, let's not push it. We know what Clarkson has said, but like most players it's hard to really associate what Clarkson is thinking with what he's saying.

I just don't see Toronto and New Jersey as good trading partners when it comes to Kaberle.

The Leafs are weak up front, and we (Toronto) desperately need a Top 6 forward (preferably a winger). Kaberle is our best chance at getting a Top 6 forward in return.

New Jersey might need a Puck Moving D-Man, but do you guys have enough offensive depth to give up a Top 6 forward for Kaberle? After the Kovalchuk trade, I don't think you do. (And that's not a knock on your lineup). You might want to move out Langenbrunner, but I don't think he fits in on a young Leafs team who's looking towards the future.

Toronto would be better off looking to move Kaberle to a different team who's flush with offensive talent up front. Perhaps a team who's up against the cap and has too many offensive guys up front.

Leaf fans just desperately want to make up for the loss of the Kessel deal.

A Jersey radio station that burke is asking for 2 prospects and a 3rd round pick.

Jersey is willing to let a couple prospects go due to there core right now is young talent with Zajac and Parise, this gives them the option to let a couple prospects go.

The two prospects are further down on New Jerseys prospect depth chart they were in the bottom 5 of 20!.. but still young with A LOT of upside!.

Two reported prospects they said the leafs had large interest in were Adam Henrique(Brantford, On- Leafs scouts love this kid!.) As well a Burke style player and a local Toronto kid Matt Halischuk(Toronto, ON)

I'd give up Halischuk but no way in hell I'd trade Henrique for 1 year of Kaberle.

I know Classic Devil was a big fan of Matt Halischuk, and I'm personally a big Henrique fan.

I know most Leafs fans wouldn't like the sound of this trade, but I'm pretty high on Henrique.

Fill me in on both these two prospects, fellow Devils fans.

Not interested in throwing away three prospects for one year of a player that realistically won't make that much of a difference.

Well you gotta remember, there really hasn't been anyone of that much quality to put on a Leaf uniform besides Sundin. Yet, they think he's so great but every 2 minutes there's a post on here about them wanting to trade him.

I hope not. No offense to your prospects, but we need offensive help right now.

I know Toronto has sucked hard for many a year now. We committed to an 'accelerated rebuild' when we traded our picks for Kessel. Plus, our prospect pool is pretty deep. Not too many 'elite' or 'blue chip' prospects, but we've built a solid stable over the past couple years.

Truth be told, we need to make the playoffs desperately. We need roster players.

Not so fast. First no Tedenby, then no Josefson, and now no to Henrique.

Doesn't work like that, bud!

This way you guys are getting to keep Clarkson, from what I can gather.

See the trend? With every report the asking price for Kaberle is steadily dropping.

Burke is usually pretty open with his business, he knows what's happening as time goes on.

I'd trade Halischuk... I still think he'll be a fine NHLer, but we've got lots of wing prospects. Henrique, on the other hand, is unavailable. You'd have to throw in Bozak.

It does work like that. Trading these guys for Kaberle is not a step forward for our organization.

No it doesn't. You're getting a very good PMD. If Lou wants him, he'd have to pony up, if not, Burke will not trade him.

New Jersey isn't the only team interested.

I'm all for Kaberle if both sides can meet in the middle of the road. You have to give to get but you also have to be smart with what you give in relation to what your needs are as a team. We need centers, so unless a center is coming back in a trade, it would be unwise to trade Josefson or Henrique.

It really doesn't matter what any of us say or think, the only two on the phone come the time of the trade will be interested GM and Brian Burke.

Then Burke won't trade him and he'll walk in twelve months.

You're not getting our future in exchange for a short-lived improvement in our present. By "prospect" Burke isn't going to aim for blue-chippers like Josefson, Tedenby, or Henrique, because right now most of those guys aren't available. The teams that had players like those to burn already burned them at the last deadline, and nobody knows if they have more yet or if they're close enough to a championship that it's worth doing.

I disagree. We can move him for a Top 6 who can step in and contribute right away.

That player just won't be coming from the Devils. Which is fine. Like I said before, we're just not good trading partners.

If Kaberle is the player that Leaf fans keep insisting that he is, then you're better off keeping him and his prolific offense from the blue-line than you are dealing him for some 2nd line scoring winger.
