Cody Franson?

What do you all think is going to happen to this kid? I hope we resign him. He is a very underrated big dman for us. He led our team in plus minus and had 6 goals and 15 assists. Not to mention he is only 23 and cheap. But i have also heard a lot about him possibly being traded. If he gets traded who fills his spot on the roster? Maybe Blum or Josi, or maybe thats what Parent could of been for. Thoughts?

I hope we sign him because of his potential to be another Weber and if we dont i wont weep but we better do something what we did along the lines of hammer(get some compensation for the loss) but i think Poile knows what to do with this one cough cough resign cough cough

There is no way Franson ever becomes a "Weber" type player. He doesn't have nearly the mean streak and his skating comes up significantly short when compared to Shea.

Franson will carve out his own mark on the league, let's not try to cast him into a certain role yet. He still has a lot of time to grow...

The stats he put up last year for Dman getting 14min/game are pretty amazing. I would like to see him to get a chance on the 1st PP with Weber, in lieu of Suter.

Do you think people thought Weber would be as good as he is after his first season? His game got very good as seasons went by.

Weber's rookie season he has 10 points in 28 games (2 goals), in Franson's first season he had 21 points in 61 games (6 goals). That averages out to almost exactly the same amount of points per game and Franson is even higher on goals per game.

I think Franson could really be something, but possibly not. Time will tell. I think he will be even better next season and could make us regret trading him.

Players I can still see being dealt are Dumont, Sulzer, Klein, and Mike Santorelli.

I think Franson will continue to get better as he gains experience and have no ceiling for his development, however Franson's rookie season came after two full seasons of AHL hockey and Weber's after 1/2 season.

They have different skill sets is all I'm saying and I'd love to be surprised, but I think Cody Franson will carve out a long and productive career in the NHL as Cody Franson and shouldn't be judged based on Shea Weber...

we cant afford two Shea Webers, either.. so lets just hope franson is a nice, complementary, eventual top 4 offensively minded defenseman... who we will then trade when he becomes too expensive for our budget thus making room for the similar but cheaper prospect two or three years younger than him...
