It's not a secret that he have problem elevate his play when he's on a cold streak

Yeah, could be. He has had pretty quiet March/Aprils the last couple of years leading into the playoffs.

AK is actually very consistent .. look at 2007-2008, 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 and you'll see ..

He always has an awful first 20-25 games, scoring maybe 3-4 goals in that span, usually by December he starts warming up and has a good December - January - February .. by the middle of March he disappears again and in April and May is non-existant like he is at the beginning of the season.

Every year ... same thing. Check it out if you don't believe me.

I'm not sure if you want to prove my point but even if the paterns are the same the reason for the cold streak are clearly different

to MTL: Horton

Then you keep Halak which is IMO a total keeper.

I have a feeling both these trades are doable, only thing that might not work would be TB taking Hamrlik, I think TB won't have a problem dealing their 6th pick overall, don't think Stevie Y is going there with an I want to rebuild state of mind, I'm pretty sure he know they are one Goalie and maybe another solid player on D away from making the playoffs. On the other hand Florida would love that 6th overall pick for Horton, they'd have 4 and 6 and they are indeed a rebuilding team.
How about we trade both goalies and then sign Nabokov? Just kidding.

Both Halak and Price are worth more than Malone even if the salaries were equivalent (which they're not). Although it might please those who want change for the sake of change, that proposal/rumor is so shortsighted that it should revolt any serious Habs fan.

Agreed. I think the best trading partner out there is St. Louis. If we trade one of our goalies, I'd want them to go to the West.

I do this faster than *inappropriate comment regarding a stripper*!

Seriously though...With this we draft either Brett Connoly, Nino Neidreitter or Gudbranson/Gormley

DROOL at any of those...
either pair em up with gomer or pair em with PK

Tampa probably passes, since they can have one of those with Stamkos, or with Hedman.

So, you rip Tampa off, then overpay Florida ?

Malone hasn't played a full season since his rookie year. He's big at 6'4, 215lbs and goes to the net... but isn't more than a 20 goal scorer at $4.5M / 5 Years. Can anybody comment on his physical game?

Horton... well, he's often hurt and isn't physical for his size... again, minis the one 31 goal season... little more than a 20 goal scorer.

Although, both play for so-so teams... maybe that has to do with the low goal totals

To Montreal:
Ryan Clowe
1st/2nd round pick

To San Jose:
Halak
S. Kostitsyn

SJ would love one of our goalies. At least if we trade the wrong one, he'll be in the Western Conference. Clowe is what we need... a big, strong LW that pots about 20 goals a year. Signed for another 3 years at $3.6 million is about $1 million cheaper than Malone and is still only 27 years old. We also get a pick and send Sergei to SJ as a cheap roster replacement for Clowe.

Malone is physical. He also plays with better teammates than Horton. Most power forwards end up hurt, as their style of game limits them.

To Montreal
Clowe+Murray
To San Jose
Halak+Carle

Also willing to swap first round picks, 27th and 28th, marginal difference, but if it helps...

Or all out on:

To San Jose
Halak+AK+Carle+MTL 1st
To Montreal
Clowe+Vlasic+SJS 1st

Probably not enough though.

Vlasic, plus markov and subban would be pretty sick puck moving d core. Oh well.
