Why had I failed to note the hilarious irony in those ads until now?

Haha, nice one.

I'm actually kind of sad, because I remember how happy I was when he first signed with us. I'm not sure if it would have made a difference, but it would have been nice to see BGL be able to play for us while being 100% healthy.

I think its .750 for the next two seasons? Can anyone confirm? Saves us 3/4s of a million on this season.

I was very excited when we acquired Georges but he did not fulfill more on the ice when he played. As far as reg season non goon hockey consistency, over 1.8 seasons he played at about a 3rd as well of what I'd expect of him. That was his downfall regardless of his heavyweight presence IMO. You can't have showboat fighter who sucks in 3 out of 5 games when he plays regardless of scratches or not. And, he was rumoured to want to jump ship with that classic photo of him with Begin and Dandy.

We need all the cap relief we can get.

Sorry Georges. Play better hockey for who ever picks you up.

There are big M Mistakes, and little m mistakes, and Gainey has made some of both.

This one is in between, a medium sized m type mistake, but it represents his lack of understanding of the late 200x game and how it plays under a salary cap. But probably more a mismatch between coach and GM philosophy that ultimately parties not consulting in the transaction are now left holding the debt.

A buyout is a terribly expensive resource waste, and BG has sure burned resources in his day. I hope this write-oops-erase practice ends now.

Hated it when we signed it. I argued to death about it, almost got the boot from these forums for it.

Just relieved he won't be wasting a spot on the lineup and on the 50 contract limit.

Why do people think we need another enforcer?

Was the No-Movement-Clause still in effect?

If not, it makes no sense to buy him out over just letting him rot in the ECHL.

Forget Boogaard and get Matt Kassian instead who is also Wild property.

The guy is only 23 , 6"4 235 lbs , can take on any HW in the league and has something to prove which means that he's actually going to do his job and go after the Carcillo , Lucic , Cooke , Neil and other **** disturbers ect and drop them without any hesitation.

Kassian is going to be at the top of the enforcer lists soon , mark my words.

Extra 1 million in cap space, I like it.

Good luck in the future Georges.

A contract buyout is 2/3's of the amount remaining.
The cap hit is this amount divided by and spread out over double the remaining length on said contract.
