Stamps sign QB Daryll Clark and DL Mike Stadnyk, release OL Godfrey Ellis and QB Cody Pickett.
Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that quarterback Daryll Clark and non-import defensive lineman Mike Stadnyk have signed contracts with the club. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Hufnagel also announced that non-import offensive lineman Godfrey Ellis and quarterback Cody Pickett were released. Ellis was drafted in the second round (10th overall) of the 2005 CFL Canadian Draft and dressed for 72 contests with the Red and White. Pickett signed with Calgary on June 15, 2010.
Yeah that's great news. I assume Tsoumpas will be returning to his old position at right guard.
For an O-Line that was expected to be horrible, they sure have stepped up and proven the critics wrong so far this season. Archibald, O'Neill, Comiskey, Lazeo, Myddleton, Harrison and Gott have all played very well this year, and the addition of Tsoumpas only strengthens an already good O-Line. Now if only we could get Newman to come out of retirement and return to the Horsemen.
Here's hoping we completely demolish the Eskimos on Sunday. Let Reynolds run all over them.
What a great game to be at, always a good night when the Stampeders destroy the Eskimos. Men against boys out there. Now we can only hope whatever injury Juwan Simpson picked up isn't anything serious. It would really suck to lose him for any amount of time when you consider what a great season he's been having.
Congrats to Joffrey Reynolds on passing Tracy Ham!
Stampeders sign DL Shaun Richardson to practice roster, release DL Mike Stadnyk.
Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that import defensive lineman Shaun Richardson has signed a practice-roster agreement with the club. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Richardson played in three games with the Edmonton Eskimos in 2009 and recorded seven tackles and one quarterback sack. He spent time with the San Francisco 49ers in 2008 following two seasons at Tennessee State University.
Hufnagel also announced that non-import defensive lineman Mike Stadnyk has been released. Stadnyk signed with Calgary on Aug. 3, 2010.
Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that import defensive back Ahmad Carroll has signed a contract with the club. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Carroll was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the first round (24th overall) of the 2004 National Football League draft. After two full seasons and parts of a third with the Packers, he joined the Jacksonville Jaguars. Carroll played arena football for the Orlando Predators in 2008 and returned to the NFL in 2009 when he signed with the New York Jets.
Romby Bryant and Jon Cornish should be fine, injuries nothing serious.
Wide reciever Romby Bryant, meanwhile, fell heavily, and awkwardly, after making a reception and appeared to ding a shoulder. "He had a little numbness, so we kept him out on a precautionary basis,íí said Hufnagel.
So no problem there.
Runningback Jon Cornish, meanwhile, had already, despite the team arriving in the wee small hours of Saturday morning, been in for evaluation by early afternoon. Hufnagel called the former Kansas starís problem an "upper leg injury" - read: hamstring. Cornish again displayed his breakaway talents against the Leos, compling 70 yards on six carries, including busting one tote for 52.
