Alex Semin...how do you defend against the "crazed chimpanzee" style?

I'd pay just about all the money I have to see that one take place. There really is no defense.

Chara is vastly overrated as a fighter. People think he's the champ and everything. In reality, he is nowhere near the top 10. People act like everyone's afraid of him. In reality, not a single legit enforcer in this league is afraid of Chara. He is big man, that's all. He can be intimidating because of that for sure, but his actual fights are nothing spectacular. Most heavyweights would handle him more often than not, if he fought them more, which isn't his job anyways..

This thread needs more Bob Probert. Chara may have reach, but Bob Probert has no feelings and will destroy anyone.

Anyone that is actually big enough has never really given him a good run. They seem to just lose their balance too quick.

Plus, his reach is freakish. Even when Valabik went with him his reach wasn't close to Chara at all.

Colton or Bobby? Because I just can't see one great Boston defender fighting another...

Probert, Lindros, Crowder, and probably a ****load of other goons from the 70's, 80's, 90's and before that could take him. :|

The following would win a 10 fight series with Chara.
Steve MacIntyre, Derek Boogaard, John Scott, Eric Godard, Colton Orr, and DJ King.

In this day, Tony Twist was one of the most feared fighters ever to play the game... He would have trouble finding sparing partners because most guys didn't want to tango with him...

Chara is not a great fighter... Size aside I'd say he's just above average... He's just a hulking physical specimen.... With his reach advantage it's too difficult for 90% of the players he fights to even reach him with punches or tie him up effectively.... Being the biggest player in the league he is ALWAYS going to have an advantage anytime he fights.... He's not terrific at it but he doesn't need to be as it's not his primary job on the Bruins....

Chara is just a tad overrated on the fighting front. If he actually would throw punches that connected that would help. Every heavyweight, Larocque, Boogard, Godard, Orr, etc and past like Probert, Twist, Brown, etc would take him. They all respect his reach, they are not the best at what they do because they put thier head down and throw punches. Fighting is a science and they all have a strategy. Chara's seems to be spin, engage, throw a punch and then tackle, with the bigs guys anway.

Another one not mentioned from the past is Tie Domi, he would fight anyone any size and usually do very good.

Boogaard because he's got the size and has much better fighting technique and just doesn't out-muscle the guy with size.

Lindros isn't giving up all that much weight to Chara, he was 6'6" himself and was a feared fighter. He was an ox on skates.

As mentioned before, guys like Probert, Brown, Twist, etc. could take him on.
