Kessel - 30 goals - 70 GP

Penner - 32 goals - 82 GP

Secondly Kessel is 22 and coming off back to back season of (36 G and 30G). I wasn't a fan of the trade but he will be one of the elite goal scorers in the NHL.

66 goals in the last two seasons. oh yeah he had shoulder surgery and cancer. what will he do in a full season? blow penners numbers out of the water for one. i'm curious where kessel ranks in goal scoring over the last two seasons in the nhl with 66 goals. does someone know because had he played 82 this year he would have been in the top ten.

And he did so playing with some guys like Matt Stajan, John Mitchell, Mikhail Grabovski as his center. He didn't really pick his game up until Bozak arrived around late January. Most of those guys are 3rd and 4th line NHL centers. Bozak is the only potential first line center, and Grabovski is still an unknown at this point.

Are Taylor Hall or Tyler Seguin a bonafide NHL 30 scorers right out of Junior? I bet not. But let them prove us wrong.

Better goal scorer? Maybe. Better player? Not a chance.

How many of these elite goal scorers do you think there are? How do you draw the line between elite and very good?

Elite is a few. Like I said I dont think he is elite right now but he has a very good chance to be and even if he doesn't he will probably be just short of it.

I'm good with that decision. They'd be a better regular season team with him but that's about it.

i would say anyone who scores 35 goals and up a year are elite goal scorers. not a player who hits it once in there career or has one year over 30 like penner.

From who?

At least the Leafs didn't invest 7.5 on an historically injury prone player, and still failed to qualify for the playoffs. Hahaha.

I don't know whether you're referring to the Leafs' playoff absences of Kovalchuk's playoff numbers

He's got 8 points in 9 games, which is obviously a pretty small sample size. Who knows what he could do.

Actually you thinking Burke was involved in Rask deal is funny. What that tells me is that you dont care about reality, you just come here to spread your "Anti-Leaf" crap.

Kessel is soft and only getting softer. He's a good goal scorer, but far from "elite". As an all around player he is far from "elite". He isn't a leader, is injury prone, plays soft and poor defensively. If the Leaf's ever make the playoffs you'll find out just how he doesn't hold up to the physical play.
