  • At the time Luongo was traded, Bertuzzi still was a great first line player.
  • Vokoun got Nashville a 1st round pick.
  • Denis got Columbus Modin, who was then considered a top-6 forward.
  • An aging UFA-to-be Roloson got Minny a 1st round draft pick.
  • Leclaire coming off a serious injury got Columbus Antoine Vermette.

So... yeah. Considering Price and Halak both are young, that many teams are going to be looking for a goalie they can count on for many years this summer, and that both proved just as much as pretty much any goalie on that list minus maybe Luongo (and then again, Luongo never ever went to the 3rd round of the playoffs. Halak did. Vokoun: Same thing), I guess it's not far-fetched to hope for a top-6 player for one of those two. This is what the market suggests.

Toskala trade, you forget to mention Mark Bellw as included and at the time was still regarded as a solid prospect. And these was before people really understood the importance of the draft. Needless to say the leafs have never beena club who has been sheepish about giving away draft picks. A statistical anonomally.

Lethonen, who 2-3 years ago was seen as a much bigger prospect than halak or price. Granted he was injured alot, and they still got a decent d prospect. Still not a top 6, would you trade Halak for a decent d-prospect?

Vokoun has 2 great campains before being traded to Florida, was a bit injury riddled, and still didnt get a top 6 forward. Got a pick in a draft year that 10-12 teams traded or swapped first round picks.

The Denis trade, fine, that one i can give you. Modin was coming off a decent season, but plummeted right after the trade. Maybe Columbus knew what they were doing.

Would you trade Halak/Price for Antoine Vermette? I sure wouldnt. He is a 3rd line player.

And the Minny deal for a first in exchange for Roloson was a deadline deal. And widely crtiticized. Again, not a top 6.

And bertuzzi was *still* a great first liner? wow. The guy was in an emotional and physical downward spiral d/t the steve moore incident. The guy was a wreck. He was brutal in the 06 olympics. And this is Lunogo your talking about. At the time and still now, regarded as a top 5. Panthers got ***** hard in that trade.

So if history shows you anything, is that you are wrong.
