Jason Allison???

Would this guy be a good replacement for Nedved if we are unable to sign him??? It has been reported that the Kings will not qualify him, making him an unrestricted free agent. His health is a big concern as he has sat out most of the past 2 yrs, but his injury is not a concussion and doctors believe that rest was the best medicine. His contract could be low base salary with bonuses for games played. His numbers have been superior to Nedved's prior to his injury.

The next question is whether he skates well enough to play Oiler hockey. I think for that you just have to look at his PPG average and concede that he would be fine. Nedved would be my 1st choice as he has shown he fits, but if he were to walk I think Lowe needs to have someone in the #1 center role as noone on the current roster fits the bill.

I don't think so because I wouldn't pony up more than $2mil for him, and I think he could get more than that.

He is suffering from post-traumatic migraines... not good. He could be one hit away from missing 2 seasons again, and the Oilers can't try to rely on that.

If I thought he could stay healthy, I'd say definately without a doubt yes. However, I don't think he can, so he wouldn't be worth the money he could get elsewhere.

I would have to say NO to this idea. Allison is always hurt and missed the entire Season this past season. Who knows if he will even play again and if he does, I doubt he'll stay healthy long.

Even if health and money were not concerns (which they are), Allison is not exactly a speedster, so I'm not sure if he's an ideal fit for the (alleged) Oiler affiliation with fast skating types.

Absolutely not. The loss of Allison, their top centreman, is one of the primary reasons why the Kings has failed to make the post season that last two years. He is waaay too risky.
