2016 QMJHL Draft - early projection

I do not think Wise will come QMJHL but I am putting him 1st until things are 100% known....

1. Jake Wise—F—Central Catholic HS USA 5’11/180 00 00 00 00 Not coming QMJHL route as of I know, he is being compared to Eichel and Matthews type of talent, I have seen him play live last year and the kid was just amazing. I personally think he chooses NCAA.
2. Jared McIssac—D—Cole Harbour 6’01/180 15 09 11 20 -- McIssac is the Mr everything, super smart, plays great in his own zone, has great positioning and IQ he shuts down top players, he is an amazing puck mover and has great passing, shooting and puck handling skills, he is a top notch skater as well. A number 1 defender in the making.
3. Benoit Olivier Groulx—F—Intrepide 6’02/170 20 13 16 29 -- Son of Benoit Groulx, his size, skating and amazing shot, he creates offense every shift and is a franchise player.
4. Anderson MacDonald—F—Saint John 6’01/185 09 08 11 19 -- one of the best players in a LONG time from New Brunswick, amazing goal scorer, exciting to watch, great playmaking, has good size, another potential franchise player in the making.
5. Jeremie Bucheler—D—LSL Pred 6’03/173 20 02 14 16 -- Great size, excellent puck moving ability, creates off the rush well, controls the play, very good defender, has all the tools to be a franchise defender.

Any chance Simoneau is granted exceptional status? If so, Would he go first?

Yeah McIsaac is exceeding the lofty expectations people had for him heading into the season.

On a side note, have you seen any of the 01's who are in MAAA this season in Quebec?

Basically my question too. I have noticed he has slowed down some while Parent is heating up with 4 consecutive multi-point games. There is also Samuel Poulin who is the most physically mature of the 3 by a large margin.

I personally do not think he will get the exception....his size will hold him back at that because they make a number of decisions when deciding and one is would he be able to translate, with his size this year i would say another year midget would do him wonders.....Poulin and Parent will have a chance and if they do well then that decides on the team, McIssac is pretty darn good and was exception last year and the number 1 defender at 14 on Cole Harbor.

Also side note with the big 3 2001's playing Quebec Midget, Evan Fitzpatricks brother Lucas Fitzpatrick also a goalie is a 2001 playing on Cole Harbor and is possibly the best goalie in Major Midget as a 14 year old with 7 wins, 0 losses and a .940 GAA http://coleharbourmajormidgets.ca/pl...0&team_id=2338

is Noah Dobson left off of this list? Surprised. I'd have him higher than McQuaid going back to Canada Games.
A like Brennan Laverty from Moncton. Has shown a jump in his game more so this season.
Defence man from Nouveau Brunswick Adam McCormick have seen him twice at Moncton Flyers, steady both times, consistent puck mover.

I see Monctonian is this coming weekend. Great evaluation opportunity and nice way to spend a few days watching hockey, for an old retired gent.

yes i will be watching the NB guys a little harder at the Monctonian....had not seen in depth the NB teams except Saint John this year.....Monctonian in the scouts mind is the start of the year....all the guys are use to the league now, this is the 1st big tournament of the year, now it begins.

If they pull the same move Veleno did they might not have a choice if they wanna keep the talent in Canada. Theres at least 2 guys worthy of exceptional status in my opinion, but it'll be interesting to see how hockey canada handles it, if they have to at all that is

What's the deal with St Laurent's stats? Playing on a weak line or something?

Thanks for sharing, always very interesting.

Surprised you don't have Olivier Rodrigue. At 6'0", he is not as big as Mandolese , but definitely the best goalie in QMAAA this year. I'd be surprised if he is not picked in the first round.

A couple of omissions in the first two rounds IMO : Saint-Laurent (despite a disappointing start), as well as F-A Marcotty.

Saw Jared McIsaac play a little while ago on TV. This kid really has it all, and he's even got good size already. Mooseheads have multiple picks early in the draft this year, I wouldn't be surprised if they made a move to get McIsaac. I'm sure that they'd love to have another local boy as the face of the franchise, since it turned out pretty well last time.

There must be a story behind this one. Why is a kid from PEI playing in Austria?

I don't believe it is a matter of how far back Evan MacKinnon will be, but rather where in this mix he will be? He appears to be one of the top rookie forwards in NSMMHL gauging by hockeyprospect.com evaluations. It will be interesting to see where they peg him and others in their Atlantic Prospect Rankings (based on last years report it should be released shortly after Monctonian). Checked recent statistics and MacKinnon is leading Steele Subaru Dartmouth MM w/ 5'8/155 14 9 9 18

When it is all said and done, regardless of where anyone here or for that matter at hockeyprospects ranks these kids there will be plenty of surprises come draft day! Guaranteed!!

Top 25 Quebec Prospects have just been released at hockeyprospect.com

To bigdirty asking about Austria. Red Bull has an academy over there that is supposed to be the next big thing in development. The Hockey News had an article about it recently.
