From the positive side of me.... What a mature statement from Lander.

From the cynical side of me.... How much is he going to use the ammunition of going back into the draft when they try to sign him next year?

Didn't MPS say Lander was staying over in Sweden in his interview on the Team 1260 just after he signed his own deal?

But again, I don't get all the "he isn't signing because he feels he's not ready" ... since according to the CBA it's his decision, not the team's, to return to the SEL next season, even if he's under contract.

So he could have still signed the contract and returned to the SEL... though the fact that he'd go back into the draft makes it less likely that he'd be a problem signing next season, he could still have been signed this year.
He didn't want to come to training camp I'm pretty sure is the reasoning and felt it would be better to focus all his attention on Timra. Could he have still not gone to training camp with an nhl contract? Sure but the reasoning behind getting a player like Lander signed to a contract is usually to bring him to camp.

Doesn't really matter as there is a rookie salary cap.

Meh, I respect his decision. I think the fact that he realizes he's not good enough yet for the NHL is a positive sign in terms of his development.

Wow, great maturity level from this kid. He wants a bigger role in Timra so he can get better. I love that mentality. He wouldn't have made the roster this season anyways. I am glad he is going back to Timra.

I wish Timra would take eberle, seguin, and paajarvi back for another season, it would be better than trying to develop them under the dinosaurs edmonton has behind the bench.

I am aware of that but he could certainly try to squeeze the maximum or not sign at all.

That being said I think the kid is being genuine and will sign next year. I was mostly (can't completely take the cynic out of me) kidding.

Don't worry they will develop under good ole Bucky in the minors.
