Luongo has a NTC
Canucks are already in good shape at center

No thank you

Luongo just signed a 12 year deal with the canucks.
I am pretty sure he wants to play here.
P.S. He has a No Trade Clause.

I have a feeling that for the rest of this thread, people will be arguing on who is the better goalie.

Vancouver doesn't need Staal and i think Luongo is better than Fleury.
Overpay for Vancouver

There's no way the Pens move their third rounder in a deep draft like this! Sorry...but that's a deal breaker right there.

That's a very odd way of looking at it. How about,

Luongo (6.75) > Fleury (5.00)
Raymond (rfa) < Staal (4.00)

Bernier (2.00) = Salary Dump
which merits,
VAN 2nd > PIT 3rd

Salary to PIT: 8.75M
Salary to VAN: 9.0M

Value's not bad.
__________________________________________________ _____________________

But, the trade is useless for Vancouver because Jordan Staal would be behind Henrik Sedin and Ryan Kesler at C on the depth chart. No Go.

I'm very certain he'd waive it if he got to play on a team with two of the three best players in the game.

He already is on a team with two of the best players in the game, the Sedins.
Doesn't Pittsburgh have worse defensemen than the canucks? I think he wants to play on a team with good defense.

this deal could really only work if you could make it a 3 way deal involving nj too since they are looking to move brodeur.

perhaps:

to van:
brodeur
malkin

to pit:
luongo
parise
nj 5th

to nj:
fluery
both sedins

van gives up luongo and the sedins
van acquires brodeur and malkin

pit gives up fleury and malkin
pit acquires luongo, parise, nj 5th

nj gives up brodeur, parise, their 5th
nj acquires fluery and the sedins

it really makes sense for all 3 teams involved. vancouver gets a goalie who doesn't crap the bed in the playoffs and a big center. pittsburgh gets their winger for crosby and goalie w/ a deeper voice, plus that 5th round pick will help them rebuild the farm. nj gains youth in net and scorers to replace the potential loss of kovy.

...lol this is a great thread.

HELL NO!
That is a serious downgrade for the nucks.
Malkin is good, but he isn't better than two very good hockey players with telekinesis powers (the Sedins). The Sedins can put up 90+ points each a season, while Malkin could maybe get 100 points in a season. 180 points>100 points.

As for the Brodeur and Luongo argument, I'm not gonna touch that. Luongo is younger, so I would prefer keeping him.

I would like to get Raymond and to a lesser extent Bernier but as already stated the Canucks don't need another center and it wouldn't make much sense to switch goalies.

Take out Luongo and the two 1st round picks and put in Dan Cloutier.
And replace Grabner and Raymond with Trevor Linden.
