To me Macenauer has been a bit of a disappointment. As a third line center he's been fine, but I don't see anything in his game that makes me think he'll go higher than that. Maybe I had too high hopes for him after he almost stuck out of camp, but I just don't see it.
He stuck out at our camp too, he was around much longer than expected. Carlyle liked his defensive game. Is he just not putting points up, or are there defensive lapses that lead to goals or chances against? Does he have the potential to be a Pahlsson type or a career bubble player?

He's got 3 goals and 14 assists in 49 games...not horrible but really not earth shattering either. I haven't noticed all that many defensive lapses, he's well placed as a third line center. Which does mean he's not playing out of position per se, and this might be what should be expected from him. My comment was more in that my expectations were higher, and maybe they shouldn't have been.
His ceiling really depends on how the Ducks operate, which I don't think I'm qualified yet to comment on. Given a chance he might develop into an NHL-caliber defensive center, but that's probably his ceiling. He's still got some improvement left to get there. In previous Crunch incarnations he would have been let go before he could develop, not sure how patient the Ducks will end up being.
have to agree with Crunch fan, steady but not spactacular. Surprising he got the "A" for DiPenta's injury period, as Clark is the rookie captain. Not our call from the stands. We are hoping Voros does get assigned, but will wait and see how the next couple of weeks pan out with the deadline coming up.
Syracuse have been shut out two straight games. They continue to be absolutely woeful this year and its not surprising given the inexperience throughout the roster. I thought Murray placed a lot of emphasis on bringing the kids up in a winning environment? Or was that Burke?
That's Burke's thing more than Murray. Like how Burke traded picks at trade deadlines past to pick up a minor league only goalie. And like how he traded a conditional 7th for Voros to (presumably) help the Marlies.
With the two shutout losses in Norfolk this past weekend, the Crunch are once again in seventh place in the division and rapidly heading towards eighth. That would make them the WORST team in the American Hockey League. Not sure how much of a help Emery will be, as he could be Ken Dryden in net but if the team does not score, one goal against is all it takes. At this point, the organization might as well write off the season (as the players seem to already have) and start looking at the roster spots for next year. Not in order of priority but positions that need help; Forward, Defense, Goaltending, and Coaching. All have been lacking this season and all need help.
With a 4-2 loss to the Phantoms tonight, the Crunch are now tied with the Phantoms for last place in the AHL. Each team has 42 points, with the Crunch having played one fewer game. On the plus side, the scoreless streak for the Crunch ended at just over 159 consecutive minutes. The Crunch led by one with just over five minutes to go, then gave up three goals to close the game, including an empty netter with just 13 seconds remaining. Wont give a player report as it was a road game and I cannot see thru the radio. Next five are at home.
is there a way to watch/listen to the game tonight/and or the rest of this and next week? I am really interested to seeing how Emery does especialy with Hiller out right now.
The SCORE 1260 AM is the Crunch radio home, they can be linked from the team website. I believe thru AHL.com you can pay for the game to be watched via your computer. Alexandre Picard is playing for San Antonio, he is one of the more interesting folks we had come thru here under Columbus. SHould be an interesting game.
He looked like a goalie who has not played at this level in some time. The first and fourth goals he should have had, the second and third he had no chance. Belesky is really playing with a mean streak, as an uncalled slash and a nasty uncalled spear came from him before his win in his fight. Salters was again schooled tonight, by Neilson this time. If Salters is the best heavyweight the Ducks have in the farm system, they had better be looking at this years draft or a free agent as a replacement as Salters is not getting it done. He did not play a shift after his fight in the first, as he was flexing his hand/wrist in the box. If he is out, and with Mirasty banished to Fort Wayne, it is time to find someone to bring in for the rest of the season to protect the prospects. Otherwise, it is open season for Baby Ducks in the War Memorial. And, with tonights loss and the Phantoms shoot out loss, the Crunch are now in last place in the 30 team American Hockey League.

I would like to see the Ducks draft an enforcer this year.
When was the last time the Ducks drafted a true enforcer?
Yes you did, Emery stopped 37 of 38 as the Crunch beat Rochester 7-1. He looked much better than last night; controlling the rebounds, handling the puck, and starting to show the infamous "Emery Edge" keeping his crease clear. Good all around game for the Crunch, who ended up plus 30 as a team. On the down side, Belesky was taken into the boards awkwardly by Hugh Jessiman in the first period, and appeared either to get speared with his own stick or jam a wrist. He left the ice hunched over and did not return. Salters was a scratch, rumored to have suffered a shoulder injury in his fight last night. The ref kept warning Selleck and Grant from Rochester not to start anything, as without Salters the Crunch have to rely on team toughness. Mitchell and Kurtz had scraps tonight. Overall, a very nice game and one that showed the potential that this team could have.
Is Emery ready? I would say give him a few more games at this level before bringing him up. Not that we would mind him being here longer, but two games does not a career restart.
Next up, Charlotte here on Tuesday.

Belesky may be a shoulder issue. Xrays were negative last night, and he was sked for an MRI today. This would seriously suck as he has been playing his rear off and is one of the most consistent all around performers for the last month.
I don't know if anyone else read this but here's a transcript of a Q and A with Syracuse's owner Howard Dolgon about the state of the Crunch and Anaheim's commitment to icing a competitive team.
I completely agree with the message the owner is trying to get across. Anaheim has done a terrible effort with their AHL affiliate this year and there's no excuse for the lack of quality veteran AHL players in the lineup and the failure to address the goaltending issue. You'd think Murray wouldn't take having an AHL affiliate for granted after what this team went through last season.

Interesting comments about Bonino's and Palmieri's call ups to the NHL hurting their development.
