-Giving up Parent for nothing
-Resigning Leighton to a raise before FA (Other better goalies were cheaper)
-Acquired a 4 mil 3rd pairing dman in Meszaros
-Signed Zherdev
-Dumped Gagne
The Zherdev signing was actually a really solid move. He's a steal for 2 mil.

I'm glad the Kings didn't get Kovy. Keep him in the East. Kings would of been deadly with Kovy. They'll still be good though.

The final 6 years + the changing of his NMC to NTC probably set this off

I argue in Germany with someone and he wants to say Keith's contract is circumventig the Cap (he hates me and the Hawks)

this was my point too... 6 years with no Salary

Hossa has 4 yr with 1 million.
I think Pronger is different because he has "only" 2 years with no Salary but is a 35+ Contract

Your friend is a moron

Keith's contract declines with his age naturally. It isn't anything like these cap circumventing dealsq

This. I loved Keith's contract. The others are just examples of what should be closed down in the next CBA.

TSN says a deal between the NHL and the PA has been reached and they're working on paper work for 5pm.

Kovalchuk deal will also get approved as part of the new global settlement.

Kovy's 15 yr, $100 mil contract will be approved as is. It will be the last of its kind, along with Hossa's, Luongo's, Savard's, etc...

They're changing/tweaking the rules in the middle of the CBA. Long term contracts already signed will be ok. Not really fair but hey, it's the NHL after all.

My question is just what happens to those draft picks? Are two kids going to lose out on their chance to be drafted because of the Devils?

I guess they could have a 29-team lottery for the picks. That would probably make the most sense.

Actually, the picks are going to be automatically awarded to the winner of an unaudited and behind-closed-doors draft lottery. Gary Bettman has announced that the lottery has already taken place and the winner of all the picks is the Pittsburgh Penguins.
