It happens sometimes. You get used to the dichotomy after a while. It helps, though, if you also have longtime friends who are also associated with The Opposition, and genuinely admire some of their players.

Personal experience? I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about.

Who does everyone think wins the cup this year?

I think Nashville

Really though, Vancouver. They were good last year, and only got better this offseason.

Dustin Boyd scored the first Montreal goal of the year. Plus one, 3 shots, 14 minutes (3 on pk). But Toronto beat them 3-2. Kessel had a goal.

I hated to see Boyd go, (for some reason, lol) but Trotz wasn't high on him at all, so there was no room. I hope he has a good year though. Edit: Wait I forgot it was a trade, he didn't just walk. We got Kostitsyn. So I am a glad to see him go. Maybe it'll work for both teams. Although they failed to sign Danny Ellis, the other part of the trade.

This is just scary. Ondrej Pavelec of the Thrashers just collapses on the ice with no one near him. Thoughts and prayers to him for a quick recovery.

Update- Conscious and doing better. Nothing but good news so far.

Hjalmarsson just layed out Justin Pomminville when he didnt even have the puck. Unlucky break as Pomms head hit the glass hard. He was carried off on a stretcher with a concusion. Hammer suspended for a few, no doubt.

Wow, Rafalski is out for a month in Detroit, Hammer out in Chicago for 2 games. Anaheim has a JV team for a defenseman corp. I wonder if Poile has gotten any offers for Sulzer and/or Laakso?

Both teams are going to have major players out. Chi is without their whole second pairing and their depth on the back end isn't very impressive.

Add to that the question marks in goal for Chicago. Going to be an interesting year for 'Hawk fans.

Preds are first in the West, Devils are last in the East.

No place like home, eh Arnott?
