I guess when Dynamo went under he needed a place to play, although I'm surprised he would come back to the AHL, since he went from making 3K a month to 30K a month in the KHL. Really liked him in his first year with the Dogs, should be interesting to see how he looks if he does officially play over here next year.

I love the Gomez deal and it's aftermath. every piece of the deal has made a surprise so far in a way...

Higgins busts completely
Pyatt impresses all
McDonagh jumps ship
Gomez's play makes his salary not quite as frustrating
Valentenko, a write-off throw-in, returns

Cool

It seemed like a blockbuster at the time but so far it has turned out be something far less than that. The Halak trade could have far greater implications for the Habs.

The ranger's d sucks and they kinda need another player like Valentenko, so he could very well make the team, unless they sign someone.

I always thought Valentenko would come back. I don't think he really wanted to stay in Russia, but when you are the sole supporter of your family, you have to do what makes sense. He probably made enough to support them for a few years so that he can try to crack the NHL now.

And according to another thread, Plekanec is GONE, possibly went into the Montreal Mystery Spot.

Well let's just say he was done as a Hab after that and not for the story that was given.

There was a rumor that he may not sign with NYR. They just signed his teammate Derek Stepan, but McDonagh is rumored to be heading back to Wisconsin for his senior year. He hasn't jumped any ship at least not yet as they will still hold his rights till August 15th 2011.

Oh?

He said he wanted to play in the NHL in multiple interviews. I may not have the inside tracks you do though.

It was said by Dynamo's GM

Avtsin has a contract in the KHL unlike Valentenko.

Yeah, but there was no agreement at all between the KHL and NHL, now they signed that agreement that is not a transfer agreement but that says the NHL will recognize standard player contracts of the KHL...

I think that he only wants to find a place to play. He only played 15 games in the KHL since he left (almost 2 years ago). With so little exposure, he won't get much money in the KHL anyway.

Nah, he's still around. The truth is before game 5 against Philly he tried to get some hypnotist to make him believe he's a goal scorer. All he's done is clucked around ever since. This is why talks have reached a stand still as it would seem.
