Maybe we can somehow get rid of Pahlsson.

Almost as useless as Shelley was...or Tollefson

OK...that may have been a little too much.

But he's still pretty useless.

He's a playoff player. We just have to actually get to the playoffs.

What exactly makes him a "playoff player"?

Honest question.

I didn't know much about him before he came to Columbus...and from his time here...he's been pretty pointless.

Exactly. He wasn't brought here to put up 15 goals. He was brought here to shtndown Detroit and Chicago.

Former Selke finalist, supposed to be a beast in the playoffs.

You know what's sad about this fake rumor. I'm starting to agree with TW here. People don't want to give up anything.

Here we'd have a chance to acquire a PPG center who may quite possibly be one of the best fits for Nash in the league. Wheeler has Rusty Klesla syndrome but he'd be a fit here as well. Yet Columbus would still somehow be overpaying.

The problem is....

Wheeler isn't signed.

Savard is 33, coming off a major concussion, and signed for 7 more years.

I am sorry, but I think we can do better. I would rather trade more for Spezza or sign a FA.

Marleau's not going to sign with Columbus. Which is why a trade for Savard makes sense.

We both agree Spezza is a great player who would do well here.

BUT, if Boston wants to give Savard away, we'd be crazy not to take him. Howson would do it and find a way to make it work.

I like this rumor. I like it a lot. It would be nice if, just once, something went the right way in Jacketland and this actually happened.

Then flip the 15th and Brass? Filatov? Commie/Juice +? or whatever for a dman. Would be nice. Or make the pick and take someone still pretty decent. Either way it works for me.

I'd make this trade, but I would rather package something for Jeff Carter...

This was a fun little thread...

I agree that Savard and Nash could really do some damage together

But the chance to draft one of those top 3 dmen, or even to look at Nino,Connelly or one of the top centres.. tempting..

Savard, Wheeler and the 15th for the 4th and Commodore.. done deal.

We would be stupid to not do a trade like this. We are so far behind the rest of the central right now its not even funny. Could be wrong but I think Savard's NTC is only for like 4 years then he can be traded.

Nothing is good enough for you guys, it could be the 4th for Crosby and some of you would think we are arnt getting a good deal.

I think it's a steal even without Wheeler. Still likely to get a very good player at 15, too.

At the end of the day, I'd much rather pay so little to get Savard and co. than give up Brassard or Filatov to get Spezza--who I would like to acquire.

4th for Crosby?

You're nuts.

Maybe our 4th ROUND pick...

The #15 and a 3rd rounder would have to be included. I just don't like taking on a 33 year old coming off a concussion. I am not saying it isn't a good trade. I would just rather trade for someone like Spezza. Someone in his prime to play with Nash.

I like Savard, but I have a bad feeling he might "become old" in a hurry. And that contract is frightening.

Boston won't take Huselius or Commodore back... the rumor is out because they need to unload salary, not take on more uselessness. We'd have to force someone else to take one of them in a trade for a D-Man.....

Ok, dude, we get it. You have a crush on Spezza. How many times are you going to post this in here? I think I read it from you 4 or 5 times on 2 pages of posts...

Here's the hard fact. The CBJ have to do something. They have to give up something to get anything in return. They have to address the need to a PMD and a #1 Center to play with Nash... Savard would be a great fit, no doubt about that. Yes, he had a massive concussion, but he came back and played. With the new headshot's rule that will be in effect... I'm a little less worried about someone plowing his head off and taking him out and leaving the CBJ hanging on a 7 year contract.

I guess it could happen though... but if you don't take risks to improve the team, make the playoffs, win a playoff game, get out of the 1st round, and ultimately go after a Cup.... then you might as well call them the Hamilton Blackberries now.
