If you wish to continue on with my silliness, sure.

Where to start? Three of their most valuable assets? I'm not saying I think the trade makes any sense, but neither does your post. From the context of the post, the 15th pick wouldn't be one of their most valuable assets. And frankly neither are Wheeler. Savard is the closest thing, but they have more valuable assets to be found at forward and D.

The only reason they consider a trade like this is that they are deep and center and they need some cap room and don't want to spend the money on Wheelers new contract.

Rebuilding or not, if you can pick up a 4th pick, while freeing up the cap room you need, most of the time you will, at least, consider it.

15th pick is no longer in play, as it was used in the deal w/FLA:

BOS sends Dennis Wideman, 15th overall in 2010 and a 3rd rounder in 2011 to FLA for Nathan Horton and Gregory Campbell, per TSN.

Move leaves B's w/$5-7M left in cap space (depending on where it ends up) and 16 players signed, according to Cap Geek.

Thomas next to go?

How would Krejci for the 4th overall sit with everyone here?

Odd trade.

I certainly can't speak for everyone, but...

if the assumption is that the Jackets would select Seguin at #4 if he was there (unlikely), then sure, why not?

It seems to me that Krejci is the Jackets Voracek. In the same sense that no one wants to trade him because he's well liked and by some fans opinions, their best player. I for one would give them the 4th for a top line center to play along with Jake and Nash.

Not well. You would be giving up a 4th overall pick for the equivalent of Vermette.

If he is, its marginal. I've watched him play a fair amount and he is not a #1 center.

He could develop into one no? Maybe it is too much to give up for one player but it really comes down to if you want a center or a defenseman out of this draft.

"He could develop into one" is maybe reasonable for assets one already has. Since we have to give up parts to get him, though, I'd really rather go based on what he is.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

When Columbus acquires someone you have to "go by what he already is" but then subtract 25%.

It is possible that Columbus could trade the #4 pick to Atlanta for the 8th and 24th picks. Maybe flip the 24th, a prospect and a roster player (Hejda?) for Krejci. Maybe turn the 8th into Jack Johnson?

Pipe dream I'm sure but that would certainly help. Although with the news of the cap going up by $3M I think that just made the asking price for Carter, Spezza, Krejci or any other center we thought might help a lot higher. No need for salary dumps at the same level as before....

Given how far Atlanta has to go and their current situation, if I were then and had two 1st rounders I'd use both. But I could see Howson making that deal if offered.

Maybe earlier in his career, but his songs kind of suck now

How great would that be!
It would be expensive probably 2-1rst round picks and a d-man, but you have to give to get.
