Potential of Danny Kristo

Danny is one of my favorites, he still holds one of the nastiest toe drags I've seen out of a college kid in a while.

What is his potential when NHL ready?

Is he NHL ready?

I doubt it. Kristo will more than likely play another season for North Dakota and then, a full season in the AHL before making it to the NHL.

His potential is top-6, scoring winger but he will more then likely be a 3rd liner for a little while before reaching that potential.

He still has a few things to work on, but his ceiling is probably 2nd line winger, which is not bad for a late 2nd rounder.

His floor is more difficult to define.

His floor is easier to define IMO. With speed like that, chances are he will at least be a Tom Pyatt kind of player. He'll most likely be useful no mater what.

Another year under Dave Hakstol should be good for him, as they are working with him to round out his game. When he came to North Dakota last year he was said to be more of a puck hog that needed to learn how to distrubite the puck better. When Hakstol put him on the point on the PP, it forced him to use his teammates more and by the end of the season you can see the diference it's making in his game. I'd like to see him get stronger and improve in his own end. I think that his NHL potenial if everything worked out could be a 1st liner cause he will score goals and we so badly need that (I'm talking about when he hits his prime in 7 or so years so very hard to say at this point since it's so early in his development) but imo he stands a good chance of being a solid 2nd liner.

Think Higgins, but with more scoring touch.

Poor man's Phil Kessel offensively.

Has a strong 2-way game, so he might be able to fill assignments on all lines.

He was taken off the 1st line cause Hakstol wasn't happy with his defensive game, was dropped down to the 3rd line where he stayed for the rest of the season. He would see spot duty on the PK but was not a regular there, his speed and offensive skills make him an interesting option on the PK but not sure he will be a regular there unless he gets better in his own end. He's not very strong so he has trouble containing players along the boards and in the corners.

He does remind me of Kessel a bit though.
