I just lol'd at my dad who is in a complete rage over this. Think of Sal from 990. The fact that I even talk in a positive manner about the "nobodies" we just traded for puts him in even more of a rage. This is enjoyable.

This trade was horrible. We couldn't even pick up T.J Oshie or Berglund. This was a block buster trade and we got "maybe" prospects. Typical Montreal shuffling of the deck, no wonder we've sucked for so long in trying to reach the conference finals.

You got to respect Brian Burke now, he knows how to trade players.

We got robbed.

Camilleri and Halak should have been our prime candidates. We're rebuilding?

Eller could end up being the top forward from that St Louis organization...

Could is a long time away. At least give us something, the habs fans who pay for the merchandise, tickets and tv something to cheer about. They should have pushed for T.J Oshie.

Maybe this is blind enthusiasm, but does anybody else believe that Price will also be helped by the fact that he doesn't have a very able goalie breathing down his neck, ready to take the reigns at any moment any longer?

oh i remember that. i do believe now that there's more to this story than just a hockey trade. Halak wasn't coming back regardless.

T.J Oshie ain't hasn't lived up to his potential, not this season and not in Team USA. They had that leverage.

Speak for yourself. Eller is NHL ready and will likely spend the majority or all of next year with the big club, and could be a calder contender...

TSN poll say 80% said the trade sucked. Ok, I'll speak for myself.
You keep dreaming and hoping, in four years he'll be ready.

Yeah, I'll believe it (eller) when I see it.

God forbid a kid slumps during his sophomore year. I've never seen that happen. Yet he was still 2nd on his team in scoring...hmmm.

He's a fan favourite, he will never be traded.

Bah we'll have a Desjardins vs. Price thread kick in soon enough. The management of this team said it was good to have 2 very able competing goalies, I figure they'll try to recreate this situation if the opportunity presents itself.

Gee Halak is a fan favourite. I think that's how trades work.

Who said he was? He's our core player. We should be building around Cam and Halak, not trading our ****ing stars.

Eller and Palushaj had pretty sick chemistry with the riverman if that means anything...

I think it's fair to say that the Habs had chosen Price a long time ago and they never changed their mind. The fact that Halak turned out to play so well last season and especially during the playoffs was a blessing for the Habs in many ways.

If Habs would have kept Huet to help Price, Halak would still be in the minors or actually traded for... maybe a guy like Ian Schultz. Well, we added Lars Eller to that trade. And that's the "rationality" behind the 9th round pick for a 1st round pick. Of course, it doesn't work when evaluating players but considering he wasn't really in the future plans, Habs end up with a 1st round pick as a goalie and another 1st round pick in a trade for their "back up". So Halak took us to the ECF and gave us a #13 pick.

I thought Gauthier would only trade one of his goalies if he had a great offer. But I understand he felt it necessary to increase his budget to plug some holes and that taking the best offer as soon as possible was actually the best scenario. In that regard, I am happy he was able to obtain Lars Eller.

Now, I will wait and see what else he is going to do.

And Palushaj had chemistry with Pacioretty in College.

It's all coming together

Oh man, 80%??? Well that just negates the million and one logical reasons this trade had to happen.

So leaf fans and idiotic habs fans are really that important to you ? Have you even heard of Eller before the deal ?

Whatever the majority of habs fans believe is more than likely the most wrong thing ever, so if they feel we got ripped off, I feel even more secure about it.

Remember how bad the internet geniuses said the Habs were going to be after all the off season signings?
