That leaves Harju, Thompson, Tyrell, Perrin, Durno, Hall, Pouliot, Vernace, Roy, and Desjardins as the bubble players.

Persson is the biggest surprise there, as he really seemed to have a strong start to camp and I thought he had shown more than Harju. Only mildly surprised Jones didn't survive to the next round of cuts given the number and quality of bodies still competing for a place on the energy line.

Persson is really a surprise. And I hope that Perrin gets a contract. Anyway, interesting names remained in the camp.

I'm a bit surprised to see Persson on that list. I haven't heard anything about how he's been doing over there, but I've seen him a lot here in europe and he's a hardworking player who I really thought could steal a spot in the bottom six. My only worries were his skating and the fact that he's been playing on a bigger surface for a long time (can't teach an old dog etc).

What happened? Did he have a problem with the speed of the game or what?

Anyone concerned that B. Jones has to clear waivers?

Hope to see both him and Chewy reach Norfolk.

According to the report, they're all supposed to report for Admirals training camp. (also confirmed by team press release: http://www.norfolkadmirals.com/relea...y1.php?id=1952)

That puts the Ads at:
13 forwards
5 defensemen
2 goalies

Very surprised he was cut - sounded like he played well, especially with Harju. Thought they would use him on the wing, playing on a line with Harju and Moore. Sounded like he provided good work ethic and leadership.

Would love for him to accept the assignment to Norfolk and stay within the organization, but I guess that is probably unlikely and he would go back to Europe.

only surprising name for me on this list is Persson... I thought he was almost certain to make the team at his age + experience.

He was also doing fairly well from what I've seen

Maybe they want him to go be the top dog in the A for a year, kind of like Leinos situation.

at this time of the year every team has a lot of players and tons of players go on waivers.... its very unlikely a palyer will get claimed....

every year there is 2 or 3 claims but they are mostly d-men.

Actually persson has been shining, skating really good, lovely playmaking altho he hasnt been finishing... but to cut him before harju, what a slap in the face :

I'm really thinking Desjardins has a legit shot at sticking with the big club if he managed to survive these cuts.

Would love for that to happen now, although he does have that out clause in his contract. Maybe he has already indicated to management he'll accept the assignment, but am interested in the reasoning behind the cut in the first place - perhaps Boucher will give a reply.

Is Desjardins just there because Smith is hurt? Or does he stand a chance of sticking at the exception of one of Smith or Ellis?

Both, for Smith.

Smith hasn't completely shown he has recovered, or ever will, from PCS.

Yeah I'm a bit surprised Harju lasted, he hasn't impressed me at all. Not much else too crazy here. Thought Jones and Persson would last longer but I guess since Persson has said he wouldn't exercise his out clause they feel comfortable enough sending him down. IMO he's first in line for a call up for whatever reason.
