[SWE] Team Sweden 2,3,4 from NA

I think Sweden could put up two strong teams of players in NA, which both could easily compete for a World Champs gold, and maybe even be competetive in a World Cup (assuming all other countries comes with their usual strenght of their rosters).

Which roster would you rather go with?

Team Sweden BLUE:

Goalies:
Tommy Salo, Johan Holmqvist
Defense:
Nicklas Lidström - Mattias Norström
Dick Tärnström - Niclas Hävelid
Mattias Timander - Christian Bäckman
Offense:
Markus Näslund - Peter Forsberg - Kristian Huselius
Daniel Sedin - Henrik Sedin - Andreas Johansson
Mikael Renberg - Samuel Påhlsson - Per-Johan Axelsson
Mattias Weinhandl - Rickard Wallin - Christian Berglund
Extras:
Henrik Tallinder, Andreas Dackell

Team Sweden YELLOW:

Goalies:
Mikael Tellqvist, Johan Hedberg
Defense:
Kim Johnsson - Marcus Ragnarsson
Mattias Öhlund - Kenny Jönsson
Daniel Tjärnqvist - Andreas Lilja
Offense:
Fredrik Modin - Mats Sundin - Daniel Alfredsson
Henrik Zetterberg - Michael Nylander - Nils Ekman
Thomas Holmström - Marcus Nilson - Niklas Sundström
Fredrik Sjöström - Mats Lindgren - Magnus Arvedson
Extras:
Anders Eriksson, Mikael Samuelsson

I'd go with team Yellow, because even though the talent of team Blue probably is a bit better, I think team Yellow has better team players and better leaders.

That really proves Sweden has a deep roster! It's a tough decision but maybe your team BLUE would be slightly stronger. If you compare it to the Nagano 1998 team, it's not much weaker (and you didn't even have to include Jörgen Jönsson or other euros), and the Nagano team was really considered strong - Sweden was among the 3 favorites going into the tournament! I remember well how they impressed in the first game beating the US.

Nagano Olympics 1998:

GOAL:

Johan Hedberg, Detroit
Tommy Salo, New York Islanders
Tommy Soderstrom, Djurgarden

DEFENCE:

Tommy Albelin, Calgary
Calle Johansson, Washington
Nicklas Lidstrom, Detroit
Mattias Norstrom, Los Angeles
Marcus Ragnarsson, San Jose
Ulf Samuelsson, New York Rangers
Mattias Ohlund, Vancouver

FORWARDS:

Daniel Alfredsson, Ottawa
Mikael Andersson, Tampa Bay
Ulf Dahlen, HV71
Peter Forsberg, Colorado
Andreas Johansson, Pittsburgh
Jorgen Jonsson, Farjestad
Patric Kjellberg, Djurgarden
Mats Lindgren, Edmonton
Michael Nylander, Calgary
Mikael Renberg, Tampa Bay
Tomas Sandstrom, Anaheim
Mats Sundin, Toronto
Niklas Sundstrom, New York Rangers.

Call me crazy but I think that is probably the best swedish defense ever put together. Lidström, Norström, Ragnarsson & Calle Johansson in their best years. Uffe Samuelsson and Tommy Albelin were still good and Öhlund was the up and coming guy (before his eye injury too I think).

Agreed, although I think Norström and Ragnarsson are better players today. But a guy like Ulf Samuelsson is really missing in the team. I guy that won't let the team down, that will do what it takes, and fight for his teammates. Besides, he SCARE players.

If we had another 2 goalies, we could make a pretty decent team 3 as well.

Team Sweden GREEN ( )

Defense:
Niklas Kronwall - Tommy Albelin
Josef Boumedienne - Niclas Wallin
Pierre Hedin - Calle Johansson
Offense:
Martin Samuelsson - Michael Holmqvist - Jonas Johansson*
Marcus Jonasén - Tony Mårtensson - Patrik Nilson
Mathias Tjärnqvist - Jimmie Ölvestad - Mika Hannula
Björn Svensson* - Marcus Paulsson* - Bobby Williams*
Extras: Douglas Murray, Andreas Holmqvist

*WHL

Oops, it became pretty weak when a looked through the swedish players, but we can at least make a 3rd team (except the goalies then). Defense looks solid anyway, and the checking line as well. The two scoring lines a quite inexperienced though. Maybe this team could be a very good team in a few years.

TEAM SWEDEN PINK

Johan Åström - Daniel Karlsson - Carl Drakensjö
Mikael Hammarström - Peter Jönsson - Jonathan Persson

Jonas Lennartsson - Likit Andersson
Martin Wilde - Erik Johansson
Anders Olsson - Peter Jönsson

mostly made up by lower minor league players and NCAA-players. I was only able to think of 6 forwards that had not been mentioned Ah heck, with a "Wilde" on D you don't need any offense
