Mock Draft, again.

Im proposing for us to do a mock draft for the draft on Friday. Here how it works...

For those who want to play along post your picks for the first round. I will see if a mod will lock the thread at 6pm on Friday and after the draft is over I will tally up and see who got the most right.

I think it will be a great idea for this draft considering there is so much uncertainty.

Heres my 1-30

1.Edm- Hall
2.Bos- Seguin
3.Fla- Fowler
4.Clb- Gudbranson
5.NYI- Gormley
6.Tbl- Connolly
7.Car- Granlund
8.Atl- Johansen
9.Min- Forbort
10.Nyr- Tarasenko
11.Dal- Etem
12.Ana-Psysk
13.Phx-Neidereiter
14.Stl-Skinner
15.Bos-Watson
16.Ott- Campbell
17.Col-Bjustad
18.Nas-Merill
19.LA-Pitlick
20.Pit-Sheahan
21.Det-Galiev
22.Phx-Mcilrath
23.Buf-Pickard
24.Atl-Mcfarland
25.Van- Tinordi
26.Was-Kirill Kabanov
27.Mtl-Kuznetsov
28.Sjs-Jarnkok
29.Ana-Nelson
30.Chi-Kitsyn

I will laugh when they do this.

And then laugh even more when they trade him.

I like it. They already have a good pool of young players, and Campbell would be the final touch of their rebuild.

I have a gut feeling rangers move up to the 6 spot and grab connelly. Bolts moved down and get the goaltender they need.

I think this is a very realistic scenario and I could easily see this happening if one of Connoly or Fowler is still on the board at 6, which is a very strong possibility in itself.

I just don't know what Tampa Bay would want, but I think they'd prefer roster players, specifically defenseman, instead of picks.

Tampa has to worry about Atlanta taking Campbell at 8.

I'm hoping we get Skinner. His goal scoring ability is too good.

Because if they know he's going to drop to say 10th (our pick), then why not ask the Rangers if they are willing to trade the 10th and the 40th to move up to Tampa's spot? then they get the guy they want, plus an extra 2nd pick.

There are too many question marks concerning Tarasenko IMO for the Rangers to take him at 10. He has said he wants to play in Russia for a few more years and develop, and his father is a coach in the KHL. To me that screams of wasting a pick on a guy that either will never come over, or will bolt when he gets assigned to AHL.

Thats perfectly fine...

but how does one really know, though?

Thats a huge gamble.

But im sure if theres an organization that can woo him to come over itd be ours.

This is a team with a new philosophy now (even if Sather is at the helm).

False. He said he wants to play in the NHL already and will play for one more year. He's already got an NHL-ready body, and I would be stunned if he was sent to the AHL.

If Rangers selected Tarasenko i'd hope they could somehow lure him to playing here next season... At the very least i would hope he'd come play after the KHL season was over for the last month or so of the NHL season.

I wouldn't object at all- notwithstanding all the Luongo/DiPietro hi-jinx 10 years ago. Campbell is arguably the prospect with the best chance of being a true impact player after Hall and Seguin.

That said- the fact that he wasn't brought to the Island for an interview doesn't bode well for his chances (unless the Isles are smokescreening) considering how "character" and "personality" oriented the NYI brass seems to be.

All said and done- I think the Isles will end up with one of Gormley or Johansen (whether by trading down or reaching a bit).

As far as the Rangers go... I think you guys should be all over Skinner.

I could see the Isles taking Campbell. If not Gormley is their guy I guarantee it.
