Never tried it.. I'll give it a try when I go to that big Texas fry off, where they fry everything imaginable

It's so incredibly frustrating to have a song's beat stuck in your head, without knowing the lyrics, and not being able to find it

Well, if I may: わしょく = わふ would be more easily understood. Or just go with 日本食(にほんしょく)

Don't start with Kanji. I'm not at that level yet! Seriously, I'm not sure how I'm going to remember even a fraction of them...

So わふ; is that just a more widely used form of わしょく? I understand the logic behind にほんしょく, but would that mean the word "food" is translated as しょく; or is しょく used like a suffix indicating food. I.E. the way や in ぱんや indicates it's a store that sells bread/bakery? In the program I'm using now the word for food is presented as たべもの。

I was due for a upgrade in march and waited until 2 weeks ago for it. I checked the crackberry site every day since the middle of march. It was delayed since december which was a joke. Finally got it though and its awesome. Not used to a phone that works. Used to the 8330 always freezing.

..................That was such a waste of a trip to the Sprint store. When they could have told me to install an app over the phone.

Took me a bit to reply. Had to actually do some work here.

わ(和)means "japanese style", ふう(風 = wind also) means "style" or "manner". But unless you are describing a restaurant or lunch style, you don't hear,"hey let's go out for わふう! Cause it's all わふう
Yes. 食 is a suffix(or preffix), like most kanji that equates to "food" or "eating". 食べる(たべる) = eating or 食べ物(たべもの) means "food" or "thing to eat" with 物 meaning "thing". Because of the Chinese origin most kanji(except the exclusively Japanese ones) have 2 or more readings/pronunciation depending on the context and if it's standing as a suffix or as a preffix.

I thought I would never remember this either. Except for communicating, working or living, I had or have no interest in the language. Not a manga or anime fan at all. Don't even watch the TV here (I love my Slingbox HD!). But when you learn the radicals(what each individual stroke or symbol within the kanji mean) it becomes much easier. Reading becomes more like identifying and understanding the gist.

If you have an iPhone (not sure if other smart phones have the same apps) PM me and I can recommend some great apps that I have.
