Well, one reason that he will have to wait awhile is because Mottau is going to wear 27 for the next decade or so.

You know Anaheim will be retiring his # asap just because. I'd rather not have his # retired in NJ if they do it in Anaheim. I guess i just don't like the idea of retiring a # in two buildings (except Robinson-Jackie)

One of the top defensemen this organization has seen and one of the top defensemen in the league over the past 15 years, thanks Scotty!

I don't know when but I fully expect to see his number retired in Jersey.

Hmm...I made it up for Stevens hall of fame induction as it was pre kids - in about 3 years they might all be the perfect age for a family trip for Nieder's. Just need to bring a baby sitter for the night of the actual ceremony.

Thanks for the memories Scotty!

But i guess he will have to wait a couple of years until #27 gets retired. That's the price for the way he left us.

Thanks Scotty ...

And now we dont have to hear that he will be a Devil after July 1st so i guess he will not be joining the reunion tour. If he was in Lous plans i guess something has changed now.

I am sure his number will be retired at some point and we should be able to tell that because Lou will not issue it to anyone this year or any year till he does.

On a side note has a player who is active ever had his number retired? They should just do Marty's 30 now haha

retire his jersey in 5 years... make him wait 1 year for each he played after stiffing the team when it needed him most.

Awesome! With the money and cap space now saved Anaheim can now throw 6 mill at Paul Martin!

*mind blown* - if that happens #27 is not getting retired.

Not to go off topic, but the Wideman trade and cap raise could put Boston back in the running for Kaberle.

Anaheim could also be in on Kaberle with Nieds retiring.

ANA does have a ton of cap room, and does need to improve their defense, so it's not at all illogical. They could also be one of a handful of teams to make a run at Ilya K.

Wow that's an awesome picture. I too hope Scotty's #27 hangs in the rafters eventually as he did a lot for this franchise.

I guess I was wrong about the possibility of Nieds coming back for one season. Oh well, great career and a great Devil. I hope Lou retires his jersey.
