I'm just glad someone admitted he helped last season. Because he did. Reading the posts on here you would think MAB screwed us out of the playoffs and was the reason we lost in the ECF.

Also, I'd not separate Subban and Markov. Markov doesn't like to shoot much, and likes to set up and is good at it. Subban has a great shot, good one-timer and would do amazing things with Markov setting him up. Plus, you want to put all of your eggs in one basket on the PP usually to get the best odds of scoring early with your best players.
He definatly helped us last season, i just hope managment can find a more stable replacment for that role. dunno where too look, i just dont see how a team would actually need to sign player like MAB.

MAB scored some huge goals for us and helped us greatly in making the playoffs. He deserves a contract.

Plus he's Québécois.

No one needs to sign a player like a MAB. I just think he can be a valuable depth guy in case of injuries because of his versatility and the fact he can provide offense on the PP. Every team has to sign depth players, if MAB was signed 1 year at the minimum, he would provide insurance and depth. That's how I look at it.

But if there are other options, guys who would sign for the minimum and accept their roles and do better than what MAB can do, then that's fine with me. But remember we're talking about 13th forward/7-8th dmen here. You're not going to sign a Streit type player for the minimum here.

I was born in Ontario, raised in Quebec and now live in BC.

are you more of a fan then I am?

Where a player is from should have no bearing whatsoever. I honestly would prefer it if the only Quebecois on the team were actually deserving of their playing time. Someone
like Gagne or St. Louis. Not terrible scrubs like MAB and Darche.

Quebecois? WTF who gives a *******...

He's the worst Quebecois in the whole league, lets not keep him because he is quebecois..

I bet you we signed Darche for cheap because Gauthier wants to atleast keep 2 quebecois in the team...to please the media.. I believe it was btw signing Darche or Bergeron.

Bergeron is gone.

agree, if habs cant find a proper replacmnet, and if we can sign him cheap, its good depth move.

Habs need to focus on drafting and developping players who can play that role. Hybrid D-men seem to work well in the new NHL

He might not receive lots of offers, so I'd sign him to a 1 year, 1M-ish two-way deal. If that's possible.

I can't hate him cause he was a big reason we made the playoffs. But please, don't re-sign him.

Going from the least effective PP: TOR, FLA, PHX, NYI, CGY, ATL, NSH, BOS, CAR, OTT, STL.
One of these team will sign MAB. He could probably get 1M.
He will be gone by july 5th.
i think so too. there teams more desperate for PP then us, so he might actually get some value for his Goals last year

I am sad for him ? He's done way more than expected.

Of course, he is not a good d-mam by any stretch... But as a PP specialist, there is not many better than him to shoot a puck.

MAB still has value for this team. He must be used in the proper situations and only then. PP shooter on the 1st PP. 4th line spot duty to keep his legs in game shape and that is all. He does score timely goals and was actually tied for defense points on the habs this past season. If Markov uses Subban as his shooter on the 1st PP unit then we can still use MAB on the second unit which then makes our PP even more dangerous. For the right price( around 1 millionish ) it would be worth it.

Being a Quebecer is a plus. But he sucks. We traded Bouillon because we basically needed an upgrade at his position.

You know, I would take MAB for 3.5, honestly I would. I do not jest whatsoever. For his occasional shot that would be fair market value.

Of course I mean $3.50 and even the fifty cents is a bit much. =P

I have to give credit where it's due. The guy gave his all and it always amazed me that out of that small frame he generated one heckuva shot. I could be wrong but right before Markov came back the powerplay was ranked 10th after an abysmal start. Bergeron was majorly responsible for it's babysteps to 10th.

I also have to give him credit for evidently playing hurt. Do I want him re-signed? With Markov out again I think it was a distinct possibility but now it seems like a moot point.

Hopefully he has a full recovery and can make strides again in living his dream to be in the NHL. I thought he fought hard despite many critics to live that dream.

if we resign Bergeron at 800k i wouldnt be pissed , even if i hate the player more than i like him .. . I'd take him for 2-3 minutes of PP , just like a kicker in a football team . and maybe 5-6 minutes on a 4th line
