Exactly. It's better to overpay Plekanec by 0.5K than say sign Moore at 2M - 2.5M

Good for me.

Everyone knows what he can do offensively, but its his penalty killing that always impresses me. He works hard at both ends of the ice and plays a good two way game. 100% happy with this.

Scary that he's tied for our 3rd highest paid forward though. We have almost $23.5M spent on four (4) forwards.

I agree....but we MUST get rid of Sergei so there are no distractions for Andrei and if he plays lights out this season, then re-sign him....but if he keeps being a no-show like much of this season, trade him at all costs at the trade deadline.

Gauthier seems like a man with a plan. What worried me most about the Gomez acquisition was that it keep us from signing Pleks. Obviously it didn't. When you add Eller into the mix, we could be solid up the middle for quite a while.

What is the next domino to fall? Another trade, a buyout or someone being banished to the minors.

Gauthier probably waited to know what the new salary cap was going to be before signing him.

Let's see what he's gonna do next.

Andrei is soft as crap 2 games out of three. When he doesn't score, he's downright a liability on the ice, and he and his brother are headcases.

I want both of them gone. We need that cap space too badly. You know Burke will make the Leafs grittier when July 1st comes. The Bruins just got bigger, and Murray from Ottawa is always looking to get some grit. We need a rugged winger on a line with Plekanec and Cammalleri.

I think after the Plecks and Darche signing we have about 9-8 million to spend. We need to resign Lapierre, Pouliot, Pyatt, Price and back up. We have to offload contracts if we want to add I think.

Term was a bit long but I dont think 5 million is to much for Plekanec...

when the Horcoffs, Blakes etc are making 4 million + you have to pay a 70 pt player who is a solid pk killer his dough.

furthermore he does not have attitude issues or anything like that. team player imo

the k boys have to go, and get one good winger for them, and get rid of hammer's coin,

then they could afford a solid top 6 winger.

Not if we can trade Hammer and AK46 without taking any additional salary back.

Honestly though, I REALLY want Kovalchuk.

i would assume we stand pat yes, imo i want to see AK next year, would be a confidence boost for him hopefully if he stays, and could be a fruitfull 3.5mil year, since im sure he will have something to prove (and juic himself up for new contract)

meessa happy.

He is a two-way centre . Defensively he was great in the playoffs but did not score enough. The same was said with Datsyuk a few years back.

As for the signing, I think it is reasonable. We have seen players such as Huet and Ryder get ludicrous contracts in the past few seasons. I do not think that is the case with Pleks. And, there were no other options for the Habs in the UFA market. The only player of note would be Marleau and he is probably asking for 7 million a season. Next in line would be, gulp, Jokinen .

Calm down hes gonna play with Cammy. I see around the same point totals. Give or take 5 pts.

It's a fair signing and I'm glad we didn't lose him for nothing, but I don't know if Gomez-Plekanec is the duo to get us to the promised land. Part of me wanted someone a lot meaner in the 2 spot behind Gomez.

LOL Darche is a 13th forward making league minimun and you consider it bad
Eller is a cheap centerman who will be in our top 9

Overpayed by 1m, but he is a great player, and will get better and better, he is easily my favorite hab, I expect great things from him.

He is basically like kesler, but a lite version of him. Give him a few more years and maybe he can be at his level.

I say it's a great deal even if it's overpayed

All those who say "too much" how many 70 point players UFA bound(YOU HAVE TO TAKE UFA INTO ACCOUNT).

If we lowball him we lose him for nothing. I wanted him to be payed 4-4.5 but like I said, UFA players are paid more then their worth because the ball is in their court and can take any offer after july 1st
