Well that was the players association vote. The only thing that works for Hank is that the Western writers should vote for him and hopefully the Eastern writers split between Ovy and Sid.

Yeah - that is the only reason to be optimistic that the Canucks are not shut out tonight. The Lindsey is voted by the players so not affected by time zones. Ovi deserved it.

Did anyone actually expect any hardware outside of the Ross?

I sort of did too, because NHL awards are determined by (1) hype, (2) market, and (3) performance, more or less in that order. And Kesler's hype-meter went up considerably this season.

It's also why we know Henrik won't win the Hart -- he could have scored 200 points, but the NHL hype machine has made it clear who they're interested in. As someone already posted above, Henrik isn't even mentioned in their blog link for the Hart.

Don't know why any of this has been a shock. Datsyuk/kesler has always been a big debate about 50/50 on the boards. No surprise it was about 50/50 on the votes. MVP will go to ovy just because he's ovy. Such is life, who cares.

Dave Tippett - Jack Adams - very deserving for what he did in Phoenix.

Ryan Miller - Vezina - good choice.

I'm still surprised how little PKing factors into this award; you'd think being the top defensive forward you'd have to deal with your team being short-handed more then once a year...apparently not.

It's more like what shutdown forward scores the mat that comes from the east award. Or something.

Also no one better claim the Ted Lindsay award has eastcoast bias. The players are well aware of every other player. Hart yes Ted Lindsay no.

They should change the Selke to this exact wording.

Since we're not having much luck at the awards, here's a picture of the Swedish NHL 11 cover together with the Swiss NHL 11 cover:

At least they're getting some recognition. Wish they would release it in Vancouver too.
