I would do that but I doubt the team at 8 would. Is that Atlanta? I'm too lazy to check

There are clearly teams after the Top3 defensemen.

As Tallon has said clearly that he wants big guys on the offense surely he's more likely targetting Johansen, Niederreiter and Connolly.

He has also said he wants attitude on defense = Dylan McIlrath.

It would be an easier task to trade down from No3 to grab one of the forwards and then stand pat to take McIlrath at No15, than it would be to take Gudbrandsen at No3 and then get fleeced trying to move up from No15 to the Top10
Tallon didn't draft Seabrook, the Barker draft was his first one as GM.

IMO i think this draft is one that could seriously turn this team around. The Horton trade may have had a initial impact; but they will be just fine.

Is Tallon known to be a guy that:
-stays put and take the best available.
-aggressively trades up to get the player(s) he desires.
-Take the players he desires, no matter the consensus (ala Snow)
During his time Tallon seems to take the best available in the 1st round only one that is a contention is the Skille pick. He has traded to go up or down in the draft but i don't think he's ever moved up or down in the 1st round.

Why not... they could get a scary D in the future with Enstrom, Bogo and Fowler

good forwards are easier to find IMO

  • own 2nd(33rd)
  • lightning 2nd (36th)

Wondering if its in the nature of Dale Tallon to work the draft floor, and move up in the draft. the 15th, 33rd, 36th, i think would garner alot of interest if packaged together.

What teams are willing to move back and take a bulk of decent picks?

To a team wanting to move back; 15th, 33rd, 36th seems like something that could get you into the top 5.

The Panthers could really turn this franchise around if they do this right. Getting the 'pick of the litter' for Defense, and now a plethora early picks to work with. (Must be nice)

Didn't the Panthers also get Boston's 2nd rounder in the Seidenberg deal?

That's what I'm hoping for. A team like Atlanta may have a particular player in mind that they really want, and would trade up to get. Then we could take someone at 8, 15, and 24. That would be great.

Only two more days!!!

Yeah, its the Lightnings 2nd though. Boston acquired it from the Lightning in the Recchi trade I think.

Yet he's already said that he will consider trading up or down depending on what the offer is.

Well of course he's always going to consider it, any GM would. However, that's not what the poster asked, he asked if Tallon is known for trading up or down.

Atlanta is stacked with D-man already, we don't need to draft another one.

We have Kulda, Postma, Vishnevskiy, and Valabik in the wings.

I could see Florida and the Islanders swapping picks though.

Depends who he likes, and who the islanders like. If they really like Fowler they might be willing to swap 3 and 5, but who the hell knows at this point.

Nobody knows anything at this point. I think the only thing we probably know is that this draft is going to be filled with moves. Tallon definitely has something up his sleeve.

im with you, i think Connolly and McIlrath if they stay put and Id say they won the draft....two tough players in the image of GM Tallon and then 3 more 2nds...... what a draft

Trade all of it, and Ballard for Malkin.

I think you're look at team at 6 through 10 when discussing a trade up - if Gudbrandsen, Fowler, Gormley go in that order, any team wanting a defenseman will want to be in that grouping.

I'd rule out Tampa as they don't have a R2

The Hurricanes have 6 picks in the first 85, but their GM isn't known for taking defensemen in the first round

Atlanta possibly need forward help more as do the Wild which leaves the Rangers at No10

Dallas at No11 could be a wild card because they do have a R2 pick at No41 and have a real need for a blue chip defensive prospect. No3 for No11, No41 and a R2 in 2011

In 2008 the Islanders traded down twice and got an extra two R2 picks and a R3 in 2009.

I could see Tallon trading down to No11 but then maybe using the No50 to move up a place or two.
