Ribeiro Could Be Moved Over the Weekend

Obviously it's just speculation on EJ Hradek's part and something that has been drifting around for a while now.

Quote:
GM Joe Nieuwendyk likely would want to upgrade his defense by moving Ribeiro, who'll have some value on the market because there just aren't enough top-six-type centers to go around. I expect him to move over the weekend.
Hopefully there is some truth to this. As much as I love Ribeiro, I'd rather have Richards re-signed for 6-7 million than Ribeiro at 5 given that Ribeiro is not suited as well for Crawford's system as Richards is. However, I'd hate to see him moved for something terrible.

Well supposedly Florida might be looking for moving one of their D-men. Ribeiro for Ballard?

Would Souray + Cogliano be suitable? Say for Ribeiro and a defender the Stars don't really want?

maybe if Florida is adding another young player. Ballard isn't enough of an upgrade over what the Stars already have.

I have been saying this for a while now. Ribeiro and a 2nd round pick of prospect for Kaberle. Toronto needs a playmaking centre and Dallas needs a scoring defenceman. Ribeiro makes 5 million and Kaberle makes 4.2 million. This solves both teams problems.

Kaberle is on a 1 year deal and he's already stated numerous times he's not interested in playing for the WC. He'll bolt back to the East after next season. Where the heck have you been for the last 2 years?

Please not to Columbus, I think Umberger would up and kill him about a month into the season.

Now there's a "Tippett" player that I would welcome over Modano. Not much on the backend to give though.

he'd be a good fit for Iginla, though not sure if Calgary could give something of value back...especially without a 1st or 2nd in the draft

not overly interested in Regher as we need more of an offensive defenseman and we know jay-bo is off limits..

Anyone think Nashville would be a good fit for one for their D men? Nashville need to replace arnott as either a 1st or second line centre...

Not saying it would happen, but with the Flames you would think it would have to involve Girardi.

This makes a lot of sense, but I don't know which D-man would be best suited for a deal. The Preds always manage to have such a glut of defensemen, you'd think they could work something out.

??
You mean Giordano?
I could see something like White for Ribs. White is a very good #3 Dman and apparently Calgary is having trouble signing him. Calgary gets a decent 1st line center, Dallas gets a decent top pairing dman

Giordano is not being moved unless the player coming back is named Neal, Eriksson, or Benn. And the chances of that are pretty slim.

Calling it now

Sheldon Souray + Andrew Cogliano

For

Mike Riberio + Mark Fistric.

It could happen... right?

Seeing as how Fistric was just mentioned, can someone fill me in on how he managed a +27 this season? That is just insane

Yeah didn't expect him to get traded, I was just clarifying over his Girardi comment. Would you do White for Ribeiro?

Maybe, but keep in mind, all we have are White's RFA rights. I don't particularily care for Ribeiro, but at the cost of White(+?), I think it's do-able.

RFA rights don't really hurt value, it's not like hes gonna run to Russia if he doesn't get good money. Yeah a bit more might need to be added from you guys but I think it's a pretty workable trade

I would think that Savard or Spezza would be more prime targets for Sutter, but if those plans don't work out, I could see Ribeiro being a possibility.

Spezza to Calgary isn't gonna happen
