Don't know much about Nilsson, but I really like Moreau.
Only thing is, he makes 2M next year. He can hit, score some and fight.
He'd be ideal for 3rd or 4th line duties.
If Schenn actually makes the team (most likely as the 4C), I'd be all for a move like that, give the 4th line a little grit and experience it otherwise may lack.
Just let Edmonton buy them out and if there is a fit for them on the team offer a bargain contract. I wouldn't take any of them on their current contract, if at all...
no it was diehard , he,ll be here shortly i'll bet
Yeah Yeah Yeah. I dont know what you call it when you tout a player as part of your core group (yes DL said that) and then relegate him to fourth line duties and jettison him away. (But Lombardi did pick him up for a player he really wanted.) No doubt Sully regressed, and suffered further setbacks on a horrible team under Pat Quinn.
I dont believe he is done in the NHL. Some team will take a flyer on him and he will prove he can play. What he needs is a shot of confidence, because he has lots of ability.
But sure I bought the jersey, after listening to DL describe him as part of the core. . . . (remembers not to listen to Lombardi again!)
POS was bought out and not just placed on waivers, doubt DL even considers it but it would be an interesting experiment on a one year save my career contract.

He excelled under MC's system. He struggled under TM.
Sully still has ton of talent but I don't see him being a good fit on this team.
The Oilers have officially bought out their waived players. O'Sullivan is a free agent. It is amazing to see how far he has fallen. Was he really that bad in Edmonton?

According to some, he was atrocious. Just disgusting. But, I didn't really watch him. It is kinda sad though. He definitely had some talent.

Well, he scored 22 goals. But being a league leading -35 and complaining about his ice time to the media while getting paid $3 million per year usually doesn't sit too well with management..
Modano isn't going to be resigned in Dallas, seems like DL's perfect mentor vet type player. Could he be had on the cheap?
If he can still play, he'd be a great short term fit if the Kovy price skyrockets. Word is he wants to stay in the west and LA has an open forward spot.
Can't believe anyone is suggesting the Kings to reacquire O'Sullivan. What's wrong with you people? O'Sullivan couldn't stick on the last friggin' place team. How is he going to help the Kings?

I'd take him on a one year $500,000-$750,000 deal. He is liked by the core of this team and he might be re-energized playing for LA. Still, I hated his high and wide shot so maybe better judgement can prevail on my part.
Is there any room for any one of Modano or Moreau? Say the Kings get the top prize in free agency on Thursday... the top three lines will already be established.
Then you have a number of candidates to compete for a role on the fourth unit with Parse, Lewis, Westgarth, Clune, Cliche, Holloway, Clifford, Schenn, Zeiler, etc.
The Kings have their veteran leaders up front in Brown, Smyth, Stoll, Handzus and Williams. I don't think they need Modano or Moreau, until perhaps the trade deadline when the Kings can assess if they need another playoff tested veteran.
Save the money on a Modano or Moreau and allocate it towards upgrading the defense.

Well, it's hard to argue Zig when you go and do something like make sense.

Signing Modano and Moreau isn't going to hurt us financially. Besides, if we do sign Modano, I have him pegged to take Stoll's slot with Stoll being traded. I know Modano's old but I really think he can be a better offensive center than Stoll. And by trading Stoll, we actually save money. So, by signing Modano and Moreau, we actually have more money for defense, not less.
Well, we need a guy like Moreau a lot more than we need a Parse.
Parse can score. Moreau can score, hit and fight. We need that toughness on our forwards.
He'll be our Asham for cheap.
The Kings didn't have much balanced scoring or speed from their fourth line last season. That is something Parse can provide. He needs to work on his consistency, but his offensive punch to the fourth line is necessary. The Kings have options on that line who can supplement for the grit that Parse doesn't provide. The Kings don't need Moreau at this time. Maybe down the stretch prior to the start of the playoffs, but I think they'll be better served seeing what they have now and who can come out of camp before adding more bodies to a crowded lineup.
