Doug Wilson on NHL live now.

Talking about the draft, and the parting with Nabby.

Combine where appropriate mods.

He said there's been a lot of talk between GMs this week. Maybe we will be in for an exciting draft!

Also said something to the extent that he values the UFA group this year higher than other/most GMs.

Just before Hradek was speculating that the Sharks could move Setoguchi to either Florida or Columbus to get Fowler or Gudbranson

He seems to regurgitate the same information over and over.

-Was asked about how many games he wanted Greiss playing, didn't really give a straight answer.

-Was asked what kind of goalie he was looking for, again didn't give a straight answer, but mentioned something about current trends in the stanley cup finals. Probably refering to the inexpensive rookies/journey man?

-Don't think he mentioned anything about the shot blocking style.

I think Ellis is looking more and more likely frankly. Which is fine.

Especially when he mentioned a tandem goalie setting.

I don't think there's any way that Columbus does that, as they need defensemen pretty badly. With the acquisition of Wideman though, I could see Florida considering it. Get it done DW!

I'm finding myself not opposed to trading Setoguchi for a high pick, if the pick is one of the top d-men prospects. We really don't have a lot in the system, and Setoguchi would definitely bring back a lot more than Clowe.

I may be biased, but I'd want a top 5 pick if we gave up Setoguchi.

There are several goalies in FA crop who wouldn't mind being in a tandem. Ellis wants to be the #1. Not sure he's deserving of that just yet.

Wilson also mentioned something about wanting a true winner or something of that nature. Who in the goalie crop is a true winner? Turco?

I thought he was kind of specific on this. He said he wanted a veteran presence who is a proven winner to be a tandem with Greiss/Stalock (sp?). It's the proven winner part that I wonder about. Can we afford a proven winner? Maybe Boosh?

ETA: Darn, Warf beat me. It also made me really sad when he was talking about how emotional Nabby was in their meeting.

There's also a lot of crap in the FA goalie market. Turco?

You're right he said proven winner. I just don't remember veteran presence to tandem.

If that's the case, should be Turco. He's the closest to having won anything, except this go's against Wilson's earlier comments about wanting a big shot blocker. Turco is hybrid, kinda like Nabby.

I would ship Seto out to get the Gudbranson pick for sure.
I'd do it any day of the week.

Unless Gudbranson contributes rights away, I wouldn't ship Seto. We need to win soon ... no one currently in teal is getting any younger.

seriously, turco is ****ing terrible. Id rather run Stalock and Greiss and pick someone up at the deadline if we have to than bring that sack of **** to San Jose.

Couldn't agree more. If we're going to trade guys like Seto or Clowe, get an NHL ready player, not draft picks. This team is in win now mode.

Seriously ... tandem of youngsters and hope one of them has a Rask type season, or trade for Vokoun.

heres the thing. This team has been in win now mode for 5 years. It has to get high end talent to replenish those that are aging. It also lets them have players who play above their contracts. Its doubtful they will have any next season which makes their payroll climb right to the cap without getting any better each year.

Trading Seto isnt the answer, trading Clowe is a slightly better option if you can replace some of his toughness in the lower 6.

I'm not too keen on trading Seto. The top 6 would get a lot slower. If someone had to be traded, I'd prefer Clowe over Seto.

I'm just reiterating what was said on the radio. He mentioned a veteran presence who has a winning pedigree.

Ok, I'm going to kick myself for even arguing this point...

Turco would be good for two reasons I can think of:

1) I think having a puck handling goalie would be great for this team (which is why i'm excited about Stalock)

2) Turco would be the single best mentor in hockey for Stalock. That is, if they even get to play together.

Turco is terrible now though, so no, i don't want him. But if we do get him, which I think is entirely possible, at least those are two positives.
