Kane pushing for S. Kost to Chicago (per M. Brunet)

In his Cyberpresse blog, Mathias Brunet says (and reiters later in the talkback) that Patrick Kane is somehow pushing for a trade that would bring Sergei Kostitsyn to Chicago.

LINK

Quote:
On verra maintenant si Bowman se laissera tenter par Sergei Kostitsyn, que son ancien coéquipier à London Patrick Kane aimerait bien retrouver à Chicago.
Translation: Now we'll see if Bowman will be tempted by Sergei Kostitsyn, whom his former teammate in London, Patrick Kane, would like to reunite with in Chicago.

A poster later asks him for a source, to which Brunet replied:

Quote:
C’est public depuis que je vous en ai parlé ce matin…
Translation: It's public knowledge since I spoke about it this morning.

What do you think we could get in return if a trade materializes?

I think the 2nd round pick (54th) Chicago just got from Atlanta would be a fair return. If Chicago buries Huet in the minors, I don't think they have to move roster players any more to get under the cap.

Thoughts?

If Brunet say it it's because they are some truth, he's a good journalist

how about this id like it for both sides, is it fair value though?
also im not opposed to the 54th overal pick for sergei but i like a couple prospects...

how about..

Sergei Kostitsyn for Kyle Beach.

or

Sergei Kostitsyn for Shawn Lalonde

Lalonde was Subbans' paired Dman, and worked PP with him in Belleville for a couple of years

He had like 13 points in 15 games down the stretch. I really don't want to give up on him just yet.

That might happen but he certainly isn't going to do anything in Montreal. Might as well get something for him.

It's wishful thinking from Mathias Brunet. Maybe Edmonton and Chicago are ready to take Sergei but stop thinking we will have a Ladd, Beach, Versteeg, Skille for him. Sharp for both Kostitsyn won't happen either. 5th to 7th round pick or nothing is more probable.

Probably a different stretch then. But still, that's over 40 pts a season, which I will gladly accept.

He was our 4th or 5th leading scorer after the Olympics, I think.

I like him too but too many issues for him to remain a Hab.

Am I missing something or did the guy say the only source was him saying its public knowledge since this morning?

Awards:
Jonathan Toews mother is Quebecois.

This can only mean one thing.

Toews to Montreal for S. Kos.

It makes sense.

What it means is that Mathias Brunet knew about it. And then revealing it makes that he's the source. 'Cause at one point, for people reporting something, it has to come from somebody. And in that case, that somebody is Brunet.

I'll believe it when I hear the words coming out of Kane's mouth.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if a team took a chance on Sergei's skill. Return won't be anything to write home about.

Well that is borderline retarded, why would kane tell him over chicago reporters. Usually sources I would think on this would have to be either Kane or management in chicago that kane told this to.

Brunet seems an unlikely source for Kane to be confiding in. Must come by way of another more likely journalist by way of Brunet.

Either way, who cares what Kane wants. It's what Jr.Bowman wants that counts.

Instead of asking for a minor pick or prospect, which I would not mind, why don't we kill three birds with one stone and get rid of all three Sergie Kostitsyn, Roman Harmlik, and Andre Kostitsyn for some major player, prospect, or pick ? I don't care if its Edmonton or Chicago as long as they take Roman's behemoth salary off our hands and the inconsistent, enigmatic, and underperforming Andrei Kostitsyn off our hands. This will free up more cap space so that we can acquire some young talented ufa's (Kovalchuk and Volchenkov) and allow us to accumumate more decent prospects which will help lower our overall cap-hit on our roster.
