Not sure who we are to know exactly who does Brunet know in the hockey world. I'm pretty much certain though that it's a lot of people. We also don't know who Kane talks to. How about Kane wanting SKost for a long time? How about Chicago sending guys to see SKost playing when he was? There are a couple of québécois in this organization like Dumas and Bergevin, is it possible that Brunet takes his info there? Or why does it have to be québécois in the first place? We've had all sorts of infos in the past through Brunet NOT necessarily coming from local people.

Anyway, I choose to believe Brunet. He's amongst the best and most credible journalists we have. I'm not going to not believe based on the fact that I personnally might or might not find this story to be true or not. He often reports things as being his opinion. The way he says, he knows it. He's not exactly looking to have the spotlight like tons of our journalists supposed superstars...

I don't care if its Edmonton or Chicago as long as they take Roman's behemoth salary off our hands and the inconsistent, enigmatic, and underperforming Andrei Kostitsyn off our hands. This will free up more cap space so that we can acquire some young talented ufa's (Kovalchuk and Volchenkov) and allow us to accumumate more decent prospects which will help lower our overall cap-hit on our roster.
for the 1000000000000000000000000th time, hamrlik has a NTC

Carle has zero value.

Skost + Pacioretty might make more sense.

I'd be open to trade our first aswell.. Ladd is just the type of player we need.

That being said, this Pouliot situation might force us to look for an established top-6 forward rather than add a guy like Ladd.

And why the heck wouldn't he have Chicago on his 6 western teams list exactly?

Maybe he hates winning cups. The NTC doesn't mean squat until you ask the player if he exercises it.

People should expect, at best, a 4th or 5th round pick.

the problem is not that we want a lot for him, it's that we don't want a big salary coming back. Many of us would ditch him for nothing, his contract is that bad, but no team would take him without sending back some salary.

This logic is ridiculous. Taking a players best 15 game sample?

And he had 4 points over 19 games in one stretch as well. Which is 17 points over a season.

Or even better, he had 1 point over a 17 game stretch. Which is 5 points a season.

See what I did there? Really depends on how you want to manipulate the stats. You can take small sample sizes all over the league and find guys that project to having decent numbers.

skille would probably be a 1-for-1.

I'd be happy with either.

Skille would have been great to have in Hamilton playing for/learning from Boucher, but nonetheless, the kid has speed and grit, so talent-wise he's a good fit for our top 9 (not necessarily next year, but 2-3 years down the road).

Beach would obviously be a nice target, but i don't think he's getting moved by the hawks (especially with buff/aliu being just traded).

let's go PG, make something happen here!

well aware of that...

i meant "would have been" in the sense that "if boucher was still coaching hamilton, skille would have been great to have there, learning from him"...

but i can see how it wasn't perfectly clear.

Not a stud, but imo he'll be a pretty good two way top 6 winger. He's just another example of a player that is immature and can't handle the city, media and/or management style but will put it all together with a change of scenery.

I suggest people lower their expectations on a return of a potential SK trade...cause when he's eventually traded and the return is less than what you expected, you'll all come here and complain about it in a 27 page thread.

If we could trade him and get any return it would be a bonus as he is done here as a Hab.

That being said, I can't see Bowman wanting anything to do with Sergei. Kane is a potential problem child himself with his conduct off the ice last summer, the last thing the Hawks want is an off ice partner in crime to either entice or persuade Kane.

Their headache could be large, as long as it is their headache!

Actually, if you consider "the stretch" to be from the start of March, SK74 played in 17 games to the end of the regular season recording 8 points. So, not quite what you figured but, decent for his ice time, and a bit less than a point every second game. Of course, for someone with the kind of talent and vision he supposedly has, I'd expect more productivity. And productivity must come before someone gets more ice time. How often have we heard guys complaining - even parents of 4 year olds in Timbits hockey(!) - that they'd score more if they got to play more.

If the Habs can flip Sergei for some much needed size for the top 2 lines or someone that can evolve into a top 6 player than go for it!

EXACTLY.

It's all about the stupid expectations people have. If you, as fans, can't stand Sergei because of his attitude, what makes you think another GM would want to give a better player for him...

Maybe because nobody wants them... for the 10 millions $ in cap space they represent.

Other teams might prefer to acquire young UFA talent just as much as you do don't you think?
