Anaheim - Toronto

First of all I am no fan of either team, but was thinking that this could work for both teams. I will apologize now if there is a thread about this already.

To Anaheim:

Tomas Kaberle

To Toronto:

Bobby Ryan

If picks have to be added that is fine but to me this makes sense for both teams.

With the recent retirement of Scott Niedermayer, Anaheim is in need of a puck moving defenseman and Kaberle fills that spot.

Toronto is need of a big scoring winger to play along side Kessel and Bozak and Ryan fills that need. Also it is well known that Burke likes the play of Ryan.

Is this remotely fair?

haha
can't tell if you are serious.
For one thing I don't think anaheim even needs Kaberle.

Something like this...

To Toronto

Bobby Ryan
Jason Blake (salary dump-back)

To Anaheim

Kaberle
Keith Aulie
Kulemin

Not bad. I like it. And if there are an infinite number of universes, somewhere this happens.

Change Kaberle to Kenny Ryan and the deal is fair value. Ryan > Ryan.

I am a strong advocate of this approach, as well.

Maybe not so much in this case, since that's rather depressing, but still...

When you read the initial "not a fan of either team" disclaimer......you know the poster is a Leafs fan.

The next person who proposes this trade should be banned for a month.

That is no better than the original offer.

I'm a gigantic leafs fan, and even in my wildest dreams there are no Kaberle-centered deals that bring Ryan back to Toronto.

I don't see why not.
Aulie is a big competent defender prospect which is something they need.
Blakes contract is definately something they do not need or want.
Kaberle could be useful since Niedermayer retired and kulemin could be a replacement for Ryan on the second line.

Both teams come out better.

This is only considering Ryan actually wanted to be traded, which he doesn't.

The difference is that we actually don't care if it doesn't get done. We would love it not to get done, to be precise. The Leafs are not going to get Ryan in a deal centered around Kaberle, as it's been repeated over and over and over.

the leafs organization doesn't hate kaberle.
They are only shopping him because he is their biggest bargaining chip.
If nothing comes for him nothing comes. Burke won't accept a deal not worthy of dealing.
